Maybe it's some sort of code for selling drugs? It's the only thing I can think of.

I think it was legit. the ad suggested using them for an art display.
There was a picture of a pile of bike reflectors, probably takeoffs from junk bikes.

When I was a teen in the 1970s, I actually used those Camel patch kits. My parents owned a small truck stop and we used the patches to repair truck tires and tubes. The patch was attached to the back of a little tin that was filled with some quick burning material. You would clamp the patch over the hole, then light the material. When the flame burned out, you peel the tin off and the patch was left permanently attached to the tube. I'm not sure what was in the flammable material, but I'm sure the smoke from one patch was as bad as smoking a carton of unfiltered Camel cigarettes.

Tandem Death Machine

$10
Listed 4 days ago in Fort Collins, CO
  • Condition
    Used – fair
This frankenbike is yours for a low low price of $10. Would not recommend riding this danger on wheels due to very poor bike-centipede mechanical skills. It is great for: taking pics on the bike with a friend so it looks like you’re riding a real tandem, fool your friends into thinking you own a real tandem (as long as they don’t try to ride it), or use it as a center piece for your kitchen table. The rear bike is the engine the front bike is steering but the rear bike is also steering. I think the longest we stayed upright while moving was ~8 seconds. Cash or Venmo.

Tandem - A Different Take

With this one you can not only fight over who is/isn't pedaling enough, you can also fight over who is steering it. And if the fight gets bad enough, you have a box to carry the body in.

Tandem

That needs fat tyres and a bulldozer blade.

Looks like the bike version of this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_...2_Twin_Mustang

There is a link between the forks. It's janky-looking, but should hold for about 5-10 miles of riding before it breaks.

The Seattle CL has had a myriad of bikes from this seller pop up over the last couple months:
1980's Vintage 12 Speed Road Mens Bike Fuji Del Rey - bicycles - by owner - bike sale - craigslist

I'm always fascinated, because they're universally just massive frames with the seats slammed down. I don't understand.

I think I’ve found the wackiest bike I’ve ever seen. I wonder how it would even work. If it does the builder deserves credit.

Always interesting to meet the sellers behind the ad....

This one pulled the ad after I bought, but before I could copy the ad properly to save it. I saw the wheels for sale and wanted a cheap rim set for a winter bike.

Seller was listing "19 inch wheels" (rims are listed by seller as 19 x 622).

He did say it was hard to find 19 inch tires. I asked him what the numbers meant and he said the wheels are 19 inches tall and 622 around. He also pointed out that the wheels needed more "glue" (I think he meant grease in the hubs).

“Tall bike” Seattle
A bunch of welding-fume-addled post-post-punks here slapped together a ragtag fleet of freak bikes, including many using that general tall-bike "design" (cringe), around the turn of the Century. The craze didn't last; most of the bikes probably didn't either, although you still see the odd tall bike cabled to a sign post now and then.
