OUCH!!!

Hopefully the buyer actually read the ad. Static display?

Those aren't cheap hubs.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-MIN...6/392299758876

They'd go well with the Mavic Star Fish cranks.

Ok, so I've been looking at cars a little bit too.

I'm not quite sure how I'd classify this one.

When you crash that thing the best you can hope for is the engine crashing into you and killing you before the fireball from the fuel tank in front of you consumes you. O_o

What makes it wacky? If it was larger, I'd give it some serious consideration.

What makes you think I said it was wacky? Many have not seen and/or are not aware that Jack builds some killer frames. If it were 54, I would pony up.

Simultaneously "beautiful and fast" and "never built." One has to marvel that such a thing is possible.

I was inferring that from the fact that you replied to a thread with the title, "The Wacky World of Craigslist and eBay Ads."

Ah. Mea Culpa. Should have been in the finds thread. I didn't pay enough attention to the thread title.

Um, it's diesel.

As for the finder/poster's "classify" question, I'd be tempted to classify it as "mine", if I had a place to keep it.

Time to enlarge the garage?

$23K is quite a chunk of change, but looks a bit low considering the amount of parts and customization that went into that thing.

It doesn't appear as if it would be hardly practical for anything. Grocery Getter?

Maybe you could add a trailer hitch, but it would be odd with the distance between the rear wheels and the hitch, although the trailer should follow well.

If you plugged the now open fender wells, you could haul a ton of gravel in the bed, but no way to dump it out, so hand shoveling.

My primary purpose for it would be to park it at the front of the driveway, most visible to the street, just to p!$$ off the neighbors.

Eddy Merckx - No frame damage ;) only $400!

Looks ready to ride! Seller says it has a bent fork, but the frame is FINE. I don’t know about you, but I trust him at his word! Why would he lie? It’s not like we can just look at the photos to determine ourselves or anything

That fork isn't bent...

It is simply mounted backwards!!!!

Uggh!!!!!!!

I can't tell if the frame is bent. It does look like it to me, but it is hard to discern for sure.

However, I think the bigger issue is that there are two Merckx bikes.

The first gen "Falcon" Merckx bikes get little love

And the second gen "Merckx" bikes that are really quite nice.

Unfortunately the seller has a first gen Falcon (I think, they normally have wrap-around seat stays), complete with bottom of the line Simplex components.

Even in perfect condition, one would struggle to get $250 for that bike.

In it's current condition... maybe $50 if the frame is straight.

Of course, this could be one of those fat finger ads, and the seller just accidentally kept hitting more zeros than intended.

Or, he simply forgot to add the ever so important period between the 4 and all those zeros!!!

400 what? Yen?

Ahhh, yes, it does say "Falcon, England".

I wonder if the wrap-around stays are on a second tier Falcon, and the one he has is the lowest of the low.
