How to post BIG pictures on Craigslist?

How do you do it? I've sold a few bikes lately on CL, but think I might do better if I could post larger pics.

The standard CL format is pretty limited. Some people are able to post nice large pics. How?

Simple explanations appreciated. Thanks, Paul

I've wondered about this, as well. I've tried linking HTML and IMG files, and CL blocks it.

<img src="put your picture URL link here">

Add the direct link of your image on Photobucket (or whatever hosting site you use) in place of "put your picture URL link here"

I just cut and paste the html code into the text of the ad. I do the same thing on ebay. Why pay an additional fee for small pics, when I can put large pictures into the ad for free? I use flickr to host my pics.

create a free photobucket account, and use their generate HTML tool for any pics you wish to add. I create clickable thumbnails and paste the code into the CL ad. Never been blocked yet.

You are doing something wrong. I use html code in the body of the ad to show my images hosted on Flickr. +1 for doing the same on Ebay auctions. An example of a current ad of mine:

Does it seem to work that as long as the image isn't too big to work on P bucket then it's ok on CL?

I've found that for some sites, you have to type <img src="put your picture URL link here" />

The pic won't post unless you put a slash after the rest of the picture code but before the >. I think that's on a new form of html or something. So if you've tried everything else, it's worth a shot. I think it's comparable to the hyperlink code of <a href="link adress">Link Title</a>; but since there's only one pair of <>, the slash at the end closes out the code. Or something.

Disclaimer: I'm not a code monkey. And I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

+1. Its that simple. Once your picture are uploaded to Photobucket they're assigned 4 different codes. Copy/paste the html code into yuor CL/Ebay ads.

I find that setting my camera to the 2mp setting gives me the optimal picture size for CL. Set to VGA the pictures dont quite fill the screen.

The same thing works here as well except your going to copy/paste the IMG code. OF the following pictures the Klein and Tommasini were both taken in VGA and the Green Raleigh was taken in 2mp.

I do that on CL, also host my ebay photos on Photobucket and use the HTML code. That way ebay gets no money out of me for photos.

I normally resize the quality of my pics to document size, using Microsoft Picture Manager. It takes my pics from about 2 meg to 200K. I do this solely to maintain the free status in my Flickr account. If you take up too much space, you end up having to pay them. I find the resolution on these pictures is still quite good to show details.
