Free stuff!

Because I like you guys, I'm posting this here first :) .

My station manager was going through a bunch of stuff, and came up with a bunch of postal collectibles. She put them out free for the taking. I wandered over about a hour after the carriers had made off with most of the goodies, and was delighted when I found the following:

These are souvenir programs for the First Day Issue of the 24.1 cent Tandem Bicycle Zip + 4 presort rate. The stamp was unveiled October 26, 1988, in Redmond, WA.

If you'd like one of these, send me a PM. I made off with 25 of these, and I'll be posting this offer in C & V, the Women's Cycling forum, and naturally, the Tandem forum.

Wow, no interest in this at all?

Tigerprawn 04-30-09 08:56 PM

I'm sending a PM right now! would look lovely framed

rotharpunc 04-30-09 08:57 PM

It's pretty cool, I'm just not sure what I would do with it.

RobbieTunes 04-30-09 09:46 PM

I'd frame that for my garage wall, but she's a little overdressed to fit in....

Dyermaker 04-30-09 09:48 PM

It makes me want a Fat Tire amber ale for some reason...

If you'd like, you could put one in the box... ;)

And I would probably put it in my workshop. (I.e, the small corner of the garage with boxes of parts.)

pastorbobnlnh 05-01-09 04:08 AM

Can I beat the postage increase? Margaret, save one for me, pretty please!

Ok, just send me your address (in case I can't find it--I know I had it at one time).

Too late :D .

I'll send one separately, though.

manicmike 05-01-09 06:41 AM

tolfan 05-01-09 12:12 PM

I sure would like 1 or 2 . if t2 one goes to my daughter. Trying to get her hooked on classics. Well even if I get 1 it goes to hernow that I am thinking.

yohannrjm 05-01-09 12:31 PM

Hello EH,
I'll take one if there are any still available. If they are, I'll PM you with my address.
I used to collect stamps and first day of issue postcards. Haven't done it for a while, but I would like to have one of these.

Yohann

If you send one to me, I'll promise not to put it in the laundry, and give it a good home. I'm installing a new office, and Mrs. RT says it can't be tacky.

What? Me, tacky? I guess the Homer Simpson bottle opener has to go in a drawer.

Little Darwin 05-01-09 02:56 PM

I already sent PM. As a fellow Postal employee looking to decorate my bike shop, it would go to good use. I already bought a USPS Pro Cycling banner, and a few other odds and ends.

Who knows, I may actually get the room painted and organized some time! ;)

East Hill 05-01-09 06:02 PM

Sorry, any one who didn't already send me a PM--they are all gone!

Daisy, Daisy,
Give me your answer, do.
I'm half crazy
Over the love of you.
It won't be a stylish marriage,
I can't afford a carriage,
But I'll be damned
If I'll be crammed
on a bicycle built for two!

East Hill 05-07-09 06:27 PM

Anyone here gotten the card yet?

Charles Wahl 05-07-09 07:53 PM

I got mine; Lovely, but the !@#$%^&* POST OFFICE bent the corner. Grrrr. I'm going to try to iron it out.
Thanks much, Margaret.

:notamused: .

A shame, that. No one else has reported any damage, so that's a good thing.

manicmike 05-07-09 08:20 PM

got mine, it looks great! thanks a bunch.

Tigerprawn 05-07-09 09:23 PM

Margaret thanks a lot! I got mine and I absolutely love it. Love the 2 stamps that are on the inside.
