One way you can find out the age of a bike is to look for any stamping numbers on the back of components you feel are original. With this information you just need to visit the Vintage Trek website to find the age of these components.
The bike has stem shifters and safety brake levers indicating an entry level bike. Your main focus should be the frame. Look for any stikers and post back or search for more info.

It looks like your bike falls around 1985. It looks like it was one of their entry level lightweights like was mentioned above. It looks nice and clean and should make a solid rider.

I found a catalog scan on velobase.com and it appears to be a dead ringer for your bike. I'd say given the make and components you might get around $50-$75.00 if it was in good mechanical condition.
