Can somebody recognize this frame?
Hello
I have problem to recognize frame.I have watch frame several hours from web, but ... Can anybody help me with problem. I buy bike from Holland. http://www.aijaa.com/v.php?i=4145892.jpg regards Jan |
I was thinking Gitane, but I'm not so sure. Perhaps Cilo? Or it could be a pretty obscure builder. I've never seen lug cut outs like that or a fork crown with a, well, crown on it.

When are you going to show a picture of the whole frame. I only see a head tube with a part of a fork showing. Roger

Mercier used a crown, but it was a different crown, and I don't think I've ever seen those lug cut-outs before...so, nothing. Looks to be a pretty nice bike so far, more pics and some measurements (BB threading, seatpost size, etc.) would help.
No wait, I HAVE seen those lugs before, but I'm drawing a complete blank. Somebody with a better memory will recognize them. |
The lugs look Japanese. Tange Infinity double-butted 8/5/8, if I had to guess.
Tell me more about that headset. Your picture is blurry so I cannot tell if that is a Campagnolo or if it is a Japanese copy made by SR. |
I think it's Japanese, too.

I have a UFO too
http://i724.photobucket.com/albums/w...8059_45488.jpg it says Lobo sport on the side but a google search tells me nothing about it. It is currently set up as a single speed with 700c tires, but that's not what it it was originally... |

I know - I've got everything off it now except the stem and headset - it looks less pathetic now. It appears that the drop outs are a bit bent of both front and rear. I just need to know if this frame is worth saving or if I should scrap it. Also that wheel is huge, more like a 29"

Proctor-Townsend???
I recently acquired a great bike, in fact two great bikes and both have crown logos. The first is a Proctor and the second a Proctor-Townsend. The Proctor has crowns in the decals and the P-T has crowns cut into some of the lugs and these little crown windows are similar to yours.
It is a good idea to offer good quality pictures of bicycle frame set details (head tube lugs, seat lug, bottom bracket, drops) ensuring that detail is good. A full side shot is of little value to me. I like to look at the detail. Also, knowing where the person is from might be a big help. For example, if you lived in Edmonton, Alberta Canada my guess about being a Proctor would be much better supported since these nice old bicycles were built in Edmonton for a few years. |
hi again
I feel kinda like im hijacking this thread - if thats uncool say so and ill start a new one. I just didnt want to start a new one when this one seemed appropriate. anyhow here are some new pics: http://i724.photobucket.com/albums/w...ero/3tubes.jpg http://i724.photobucket.com/albums/w.../forkcrown.jpg http://i724.photobucket.com/albums/w...8zero/lobo.jpg http://i724.photobucket.com/albums/w...8zero/full.jpg I live in southern AZ and this was found abandoned on a sheep ranch - most likely used by illegals crossing the border from mexico (lots of abandoned bikes are found this way) I anxiously await any info anyone has - thanks! |
All parts is shimano 600, in frame is seathigh 56cm.

K8drums, please put that bike out of its misery.
janos, that's a very nice bike, but it has been abused. Please fix it up or have someone do it for you. |
aww...I like a project...do you really think its dead? I hate to add to the landfill when it has such potential
|
It might ride well, and it might prove durable, but for about the same amount of money, you could get something better. I picked up a 1971 Raleigh Super Course from the garbage. Of course, I was lucky, but patience can pay off. Ask your police department if they hold auctions. I've bought many bikes at the local police auctions. I have a hobby of restoring and donating old bikes. Also, ask your recycling center what they do with bikes. They may have a few you can pick through.

^good eye!^, now the question: did Philippe make that stem in just 22.0 or also in 22.2? Maybe Jon Fischer knows

I had one of those Phillippe stems, too, on a French bike, of course. The bike was stolen from my apartment!

Yep - its straight. the rear drop out needs a little tweak, but that shouldn't be hard.
I need to replace the fork though - its dead. Luckily I live close enough the BICAS in Tucson and I can find a replacement cheap there. We've decided it came from Mexico based on our geographic location and the fact it had a 28 1x1/2 tire on it (not the original) more pics... http://i724.photobucket.com/albums/ww241/k8zero/bb.jpg http://i724.photobucket.com/albums/w...o/dropouts.jpg http://i724.photobucket.com/albums/w...o/seattube.jpg I've decide to use my track wheel set and make it a fixie (wait... can I say that in this section?...don't hurt me) mostly because there are no original components left to do anything else with. I'm also going to learn about stripping and painting a frame (glass beads and a friendly auto painting store) |
Anyone guess Basso on the OP's question?
