I hate all of you! You guys are too good and finding a good deal.
I have struggled to find a decent roadie in my size since I got rid of my panasonic dx4000 last year. I've been searching all of the craigslists within 100 miles of atlanta and have found nothing (for the price I want to pay lol) :( |
Keep looking, and don't give up! Bikes pop up in the most unexpected ways and places. Last month, while selling bikes off my front lawn, a nice old lady came to me with a bike she insisted I buy from her, for just. It was a Sentinel Whisper, with an Ideale saddle.

I've joined the ranks of the flippers! Here is my first flip:
http://i850.photobucket.com/albums/a...0/IMG_2881.jpg Paid $40, invested about $65, stripped to frame and rebuilt, and sold for $250. The deal was finalized within a couple hours of posting on CL, and buyer paid full price. :) Why did I flip it, you ask? $ for the bike fund. |
^ nice :) late 80s Lemans? what components were on it?
|
It was all Shimano Exage. The original group was Exage Sport LX. When I purchased the bike it had an upright setup with straight bars, broken thumb shifters and a bent MTB brake lever. Most of my investment went toward new Exage Motion brake levers and Exage 500EX 7-speed DT shifters to bring it back to its original configuration. Not 100% accurate restoration, but pretty close for a flip.

Peugeot 1990s Altus PR 500. I bought a pair of these for $5 total. I sold the first one with a cleaning and air in the tires for $230. This one I cleanded, tuned, and put some new tires on and i just sold it for $300. 10,600% profit into my Bikes4Beer fund. I am drinking some very nice Lost Abbey brews this weekend.
