Boxlining/pinstriping

All,

I have a modern bicycle I had to remove the ugly graphics from. I want to take it to the local pinstripe queen to do it up. I have a basic idea of what I want, but some illustration would be helpful. Please post up pics of your bikes with original stripe jobs. I'm thinking about the box line jobs on French rando bikes, the pinstripe decals and fork darts on old Schwinns, modern one-off stuff, etc. Post 'em up.

Here's the latest (blurry, poorly exposed) picture of my bike sans-decals. It's a Surly Cross-Check. I'm planning a monochrome stripe scheme in white. Edit: or two tone in white and silver.http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3659/...65f61144_b.jpg

I had my '72 Super Sport redone in box stripping based on several '40s & '50s Schwinns I had seen. It works well on a bike that does not have lugs.

Schwinn Super Sport is one of the bikes I had in mind. I always liked the fork *pow* or asterisk or whatever you call it.

I like the handpainted work on my Aussie Bates (NOT the English company) track bike. A bit chipped and worn in parts (the top tube stuff was totally worn away by the time I got it) but it is 40+ years old.

Here's a lovely example of box-lining:

(can't paste image, but go to www.chestercycles.com; it's the Pemberton Arrow under "finished frames")

Great color scheme, too; two reds and light blue with gold trim.

Take a look at some of the old Jack Taylor frames. There are some great examples of boxlining on those frames.

The masked and sprayed lines on the Schwinn are nice, but the hand-painted artwork on the Bates is SIMPLY AWESOME.
