Bottom Bracket Question
I'm rebuilding an 80's Giant 12 speed road bike and plan on replacing the stock components with Shimano 600 EX Abaresque pieces I have acquired over the past year. The BB spindle I removed from the bike is 113MM in length. The several "Abaresque" BB spindles that I've seen on various web sites, including e-Bay, have all been 116MM in length.
My question is, will my 113MM spindle work with the Abaresque cranks or will I need to find a spindle that is 116MM long?

My first guess is that you'll need to find a longer spindle. Different cranksets fit square taper bbs differently. Here's a database of the proper spindle lenghts for different cranksets, if you can find your model number: https://www.sheldonbrown.com/bbsize.html

p.s. 116mm is uncommon for newer cartridge bbs in my experience, like shimano un-54, which would be a good choice for you. Their 115 should work fine if in fact 116 is the ideal spindle length for your cranks
