What did I just buy?

I put a "project bike wanted" ad on CL about a month ago. Over the weekend I got an email from someone one town over who had "a very tall Schwinn frame" and sent me these pics:

I saw what looked like nervex lugs.

Today I went , checked it out, and purchased it.

What do you think...px-10?

He told me it was built for him in 1980 by a bike friend.

The frame has been painted white and the paint isnt in good shape. It's very light. Simplex dropouts. Still working on reading the serial. Sloping fork crown.

Kinda weird mix of Japanese and French components with some Italian thrown in for good measure.

3ttt stem and bars
tange headset
mafac brakes and levers
crappy simplex shifters
campy front der that was not on the bike.
not sure on the rear der yet...
normandy high flange hubs laced to 27" allow rims
poopy seat and seat post
drillium sugino super might (i think) crank
sugino (i think) bb

pics:

more pics a comin'...

That BB shell should be a good enough indicator, though I am not familar with it myself.

Looks as if I was right about the Simplex drops in the rear - does this apply to the front as well, or is that fork a replacement, as I initially suspected?

So much for my Raleigh Pro front fork suspicion.

I thought it was one of the models just below the PX-10 when Holiday PM'ed me about it, but I must concur - the paint chip on the left rear dropout gives it away; there is chrome underneath.

Voila, one PX-10.

But, the person you bought it from told you... It is a Schwinn!

With information like that, you don't need a BikeFax!

I dont know either. I dont have calipers. I supposed the I could try threading the bb into a known english frame and see if that tells me anything.

serial numbers?
stamped on the BB:
451 hole for the BB drain then 41
on the metal strap riveted to the BB
00451

edit:

i'm going to guess the serial is 0045141 - any guesses on a year? where's Miamijim?

Did you see Robtown's PX recently?

https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vintage-bicycles-whats-worth-appraisals/544622-px10-my-stable.html

Some of these PX-10s have strange geometry, there is no other way to describe it.

Looks like you have the aircraft stripper going.

No markings on either cup of the BB?

Can anyone help me date this px-10 based on the serial or anything else?

I'd like to get the correct decal set so I can send this off to Bilenky for a repaint
