Newbie Saddle Question

Hello all,

I've just bought an old 3 speed bike for commuting in London and I'm loving it but the saddle appears to be very cheap and is causing me pain. My commute isn't that long but I go down a lot of back roads with a lot of speed bumps and holes. I'm thinking of either the Brooks B66 or B73 - I want to be comfortable. Does anyone have any opinions on which would be best?

If you can, see if you can test out both to see which you personally prefer. For short commutes, the B66 would be fine on your bike.

Product Description
The B73 is a B66 Standard with a third spring at the front. This added spring greatly increases the effective suspension travel, making this a particular favorite for tandem stokers. Some riders find that the saddle has more lateral motion than they prefer for maximum control on a single bike. The B73 features bag loops to permit the use of a traditional English-style touring bag. Length 260 mm. Width 210 mm.

I advice you replace that nasty saddle with any sprung brooks.

There's a difference between male and female saddles. When you replace it - it's good to know this. I am not sure how this applies to the brooks saddles though.

Female brooks saddles tend to be shorter and wider.
