80's gitane
 

i cannot find anything on this bike. it is a gitane gransport with an aerotub 102 sticker on the seat tube. it has a stronglight crankset, mavic 3 700c rims with maillard hubs, weinmann sidepull brakes, and simplex derailers (the metal version - white with black writing). it has what looks like the standard size french stem (did they change the size of this in the 80's) and the simplex stem shifters. a simple google of either gransport and/or aerotub 102 yields only 4 links (not the gransport deluxe), most of which are not in english. what i would like to know is: 1. would this be a mid 80's bike (meaning it has an english threaded bb {because didn't the metal simplex come out mid 80's})? 2. what stem shifter set could i use to most easily replace the current black plastic stem shifters set? 3. and if the stem is french, what would be the easiest way to replace it? i have one pic (didn't take this!!!!), but will post better CU's of the bike when i get home this evening. thanks sooooo much!
