My Unfinished Projects

It's fun to have themed threads where we show off our bikes, but how about one where we show off our unfinished, work-in-progress projects? How many of us are so OCD/Adult onset ADD that we have several projects going at once? Here are three of my unfinished works in progress, two are keepers, one a flipper:

OK let's see your stuff! geek

I had three when I woke up but now after my commute I have a 4th.

First I'm spiffing up a Miyata 110 with Shimano 600 components and rack/fenders to be used as my geared commuter. I thought I had a pic, but apparently I don't.

Next i'm cleaning up and replacing derailleurs, cables, and brake pads (and a saddle is gonna be needed) on this Peugeot UE-8 for my buddy's father.

Then this beast is my summer project, I'm building a cedar picnic basket style top for the wald racks, and fitting the frame with 26x2.125" balloon tires, roller brakes, dynamo, lights...its got another month or so probably before I'll get it done.

and finally I accidentally left my commuter out in the rain sunday night  I dunno what I was thinking...on the ride in today I noticed the headset squeaking everytime I turn to the right, and I've been meaning to replace the bottom bracket as well, so I think once the miyata and the pug are done thats gonna be up next.

Check the Maine/NH Craigslist for my unfinished project list.

There are a few others that I don't have pics handy.

is it me or is that px-10 absolutely huge?

-holiday76 06-16-09 03:15 PM

It depends if you consider 25" or 63cm frames huge. If so then you'd consider all my bikes huge.

Rather than pictures, let me just list them:

Fuji S12S
Fuji Touring Series IV
Miyata 712
Miyata mystery model
Schwinn Racer
Schwinn Varsity
Schwinn Varsity (I have two of them)
Schwinn Suburban
Schwinn Prelude
Centurion Lemans 12 Mixte
KHS Crossroads
Giant Cadex
Trek 520
Peugeot U08

The list was seventeen bikes to rehab, but I finished two yesterday and one today. The Fuji S12S is next in line.

I have several more completed in the to be sold pile. And a handful of donors as well. No wonder the workshop and garage are both full!

Edit: Forgot a bike in the project list.

Only one at the moment:

Viscount with "death fork." Will start on it next week.

I loved those Viscounts. Maybe they weren't fantastic, but I coveted them when I was a teenager, and they look cool.

What kind of fork will you put on it?

Tange 27" chrome fork that is coming from a forum member. :) I'm looking forward to the resto work. I really wanna get that crank apart, cleaned and polished up!

I thought you were gonna say "Ah **** it i'm gonna roll the dice and ride the death fork"

for what its worth the fork looks pretty cool.

noglider 06-16-09 04:56 PM

I think the crank is my favorite part of the Viscount.

I roll the dice and dogs whine, babies cry, and the sky turns blood red. My luck is so bad that if I bought a cemetery, people would stop dying. :D

One for now. A 1981 Koga Miyata Roadspeed. Ignore the wheels (with concave rims..), they have been ripped off a Raleigh Record Sprint and only put on to check the size.

Its getting stripped, and im gonna chuck on some 600ex arabesque parts on it. It came with a mixture of 600ex and 600ax but im not a big fan of the ax cranks. Anyway, when the government returns me my tax money, this baby will be rebuilt to its former glory!

Mine too. It should polish up to a perfect shine after it spends a little time with the buffing machine and some tripoli compound. :)

FLBandit 06-16-09 05:56 PM

I have a few going, mid 80s Mystery Frame with some Campy, a mid 80s Nishiki Hybrid that I have stripped down to the frame for painting, and a Raleigh Hybrid still waiting attention.
