Set up currently with a NEW modern alloy clincher/ cassette wheelset, I'm also including the original Mavic tubular wheelset, with NEW Dura-Ace cassette, all in great shape! Looking for one of the best pro bikes ever produced in the USA? Looking for the most reliable parts setup/ groupo'? Are you looking for a quick and light road bike to go out on the weekend, train, go fast with friends, or even commute a medium or long distance? This bike could be perfect for you. . . The frameset and fork were made in Pennsylvania of the finest materials and with the greatest precision, complete with Cannondale's trademark sanded-smooth welds and gorgeous paint job. Sexy, stiff, very responsive, a fast climber, accelerates like a batt-outta-hell, and really easy to maintain. Truly, a beautiful bike, especially at this value! Size Large 57cm frameset, fits a rider between 5'10" to 6'2". I can help with a basic bike fitting (very important!) where we make adjustment to saddle height and setback, as well as the reach and drop of the bars. Highlights: -Cannondale CAAD frameset, handmade in Pennsylvania! Exquisite tubeset and welds. Super light weight, stiff acceleration and brilliant handling. 27.2mm seatpost, 1" headtube, beautiful pearlescent green paint in great condition. -Shimano Dura-Ace downtime shifters and rear derailleur, perfect condition. Enough said. -Suntour Superbe Pro Crankset and BB with NEW Superbe Pro chainrings! 39-52t. -ITM Italian 1" threaded headset, just overhauled. -ITM alloy drop bars, 44cm, medium reach, medium drop. -Syncros Alloy stem. -2 Wheelsets!: -Mavic Reflex alloy tubular rims laced to Campagnolo hubs! -Alloy 28H front, 32H double wall 18mm rims laced to sealed hubs, Shimano freehub body! -BRAND NEW Vittoria Rubino Pro tires, 700x 23c! Fast and still tough! -BRAND NEW Jagwire L3 cables and housing throughout! -BRAND NEW Brake pads! -BRAND NEW Shimano cassette! -BRAND NEW Sram Chain with Powerlink! This bike was built and maintained by professional mechanic, and all of the wearable parts are great condition (as mentioned). I collect finer bicycles, mostly American and Japanese, and spend all winter dialing up awesome bikes like this one. The reason I don't want to keep this specimen is because it is not my size so I have never use it. I was very tempted to use the drivetrain on bike that's closer to my size, but it matches the vintage of the frame perfectly, and to not use it here would sad. The overhaul/ new parts/ detailing were just completed and the bike will remain in pristine condition until it is sold. If you've been shopping around for a quick, light, drop-bar-style road bike, you realize you gotta drop more than twice this dough to get something even close to this performance, and three times this much to get something close to this weight! We can meet in Porter or Magoun Sq. if that works for you, take it for a test ride, you'll love it! Help me pay my student loans and find this bike a new home! See it in person and take it for a test ride, you'll see. If you have any questions or need better pictures, respond to this add or shoot me a text at 781-572-one-five-zero-one. Please be sure to mention the exact bike in your response, I have a few up at the moment! Also, please include your height so I'll have an idea of fit. Thanks!

How did I wind up addicted to Cannondales and tandems?
1998 R300 CAAD2, I think. Might qualify to be a Frankenbike - should originally have had a triple, and the front fork and wheel are a mystery. Nevertheless I love this paint job. The original bike would have been something I wanted, decent enough and low gears. Cannondale http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=452539 Just a little newer than most of these I see, and a much lower price Burley Tandem http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=452540 |

This is a sweet bike that rides smoothly, shifts like butter, and handles well. This would be perfect for you if you are looking to upgrade to a classic steel road bike and have trouble finding bikes small enough for your frame. The frame is sized as a 19", with a 47.5 cm seat tube, which is great for riders I would say 5'-0" to 5'-4" give or take (I'm 5' 3" and change). The frame is Reynolds 531 steel, the components are Shimano 600 (that would be the equivalent to today's Ultegra), Continental Gatorskin tires with plenty of miles left. Nitto stem, Matrix wheelset, Vetta saddle (that I find incredibly uncomfortable, but could be convinced to include a beat up Terry Butterfly saddle that is amazingly comfortable, just in very used condition). MADE IN the USA! New bar tape, new cables and housing, and almost never used since these have been replaced. This bike is always kept inside and is in quite good condition for its age. That said, it has been ridden and locked up so there are some noticeable paint chips and scratches. No dents. $450 You can read all the specs here: 1987 Trek Bicycle Brochure This bike is super light, easy to carry inside. I would not recommend locking up outside, but if you have to, I have an almost brand new Kryptonite mini ULock also for sale that I'll let go for $50 if you buy the bike. |

With Campagnolo dropouts? Admittedly I don't know too much about these bikes, but without researching this one too carefully, I would have guessed Kessels.

The Falcon precursor Merckx bikes are often dismissed as poor quality, but they appeared in a similar range of models to the Falcon line. In 1974, Falcon offered a top of the line Merckx Super Competition #102 (All Reynolds 531 DB, long point lugs, oval fork blades, Nuovo Record derailers; Record crank, Campagnolo brakes, Brooks saddle, Cinelli bars and stem, chrome fork crown and tips-virtually the same specs as the comparable San Remo) http://sheldonbrown.com/falcon.html |

^Hope it works out for your friend. As stated, one doesn't find many in this size. Terrific components, cool details, steel lugged USA made. Could make this one a knockout keeper - spend for a custom paint, mint out the components, etc. Good luck!
