How did I wind up addicted to Cannondales and tandems?

1998 R300 CAAD2, I think. Might qualify to be a Frankenbike - should originally have had a triple, and the front fork and wheel are a mystery. Nevertheless I love this paint job. The original bike would have been something I wanted, decent enough and low gears.

Cannondale

Just a little newer than most of these I see, and a much lower price

Burley Tandem

In Fort Wayne Indiana, smaller size Trek 420, appears to be in pretty good shape, not sure if the components are all original: Trek 420 Road bike

Rarely seen very small Trek 560. Nice frame details, R-531, Shimano 600. Worthy of a custom re-paint.

https://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/bik/5025892898.html

Tiny Trek 560 Ex Pro Series Road Bike - $450 (Humboldt Park) < >

make / manufacturer: Trek
model name / number: 560 EX Pro Series
size / dimensions: 19

1987 Trek 560EX Pro Series Road Bike- ready to ride for shorter riders! This is a sweet bike that rides smoothly, shifts like butter, and handles well. This would be perfect for you if you are looking to upgrade to a classic steel road bike and have trouble finding bikes small enough for your frame.
The frame is sized as a 19", with a 47.5 cm seat tube, which is great for riders I would say 5'-0" to 5'-4" give or take (I'm 5' 3" and change).

The frame is Reynolds 531 steel, the components are Shimano 600 (that would be the equivalent to today's Ultegra), Continental Gatorskin tires with plenty of miles left. Nitto stem, Matrix wheelset, Vetta saddle (that I find incredibly uncomfortable, but could be convinced to include a beat up Terry Butterfly saddle that is amazingly comfortable, just in very used condition). MADE IN the USA!

New bar tape, new cables and housing, and almost never used since these have been replaced. This bike is always kept inside and is in quite good condition for its age. That said, it has been ridden and locked up so there are some noticeable paint chips and scratches. No dents.

$450

You can read all the specs here:
1987 Trek Bicycle Brochure

This bike is super light, easy to carry inside. I would not recommend locking up outside, but if you have to, I have an almost brand new Kryptonite mini ULock also for sale that I'll let go for $50 if you buy the bike.

Either way, they aren't that different.

^Hope it works out for your friend. As stated, one doesn't find many in this size. Terrific components, cool details, steel lugged USA made. Could make this one a knockout keeper - spend for a custom paint, mint out the components, etc. Good luck!

Someone in Beantown ought to scoop this up:
Lemond Tourmalet Speed bicycle Road bike - $100 (Saugus)

Pics are lousy, but it looks like it has lived an easy life. Steel Lemonds are one of the most undervalued bikes on the used market IMHO.

I saw a 1985 Trek 560, size 19" or 21" at Memphis Bike Co liquidation sale last weekend for $100. Not sure if it sold. What was crazy was that people would look at the price tag, and walk away looking for something cheaper.

[h=2]Diamond Back Master TG by Centurion new tires! - $200 (Lakeville, MN)[/h]Diamond Back Master by Centurion new tires!

My pictures make the bike look a little lighter in color than it actually is. The paint is nice and shiny.

1990's Diamondback Master in 23" frame. Shimano 105 brakes and derailleurs. Sakae AX crank and MKS pedals. Panasonic Panaracer tires literally have less than 15 miles on them. Purchased brand new last month. Wolber wheels have almost zero brake rub and look brand new. The Velo seat is also brand new as well as the brake pads. Pretty rad bike!

$200 cash firm picked up in Lakeville. Not to be a jerk, but all emails asking for a lower price or if the bike is still available will be ignored and deleted. No delivery, no trades.

Not especially cheap SR800. So why? Because it's pink, that's why.
