Pristine 50cm BIANCHI, Columbus tubing, Shimano 600 (Ultegra)
[h=2]Pristine 50cm BIANCHI, Columbus tubing, Shimano 600 (Ultegra) - $500 (Boston)[/h]

condition: like new
make / manufacturer: Bianchi
size / dimensions: 50cm
I am selling a gorgeous 54cm Bianchi road bike in excellent condition. Rides like a dream. Nary a scratch or blemish on the frame.
-Shimano 600 groupset, succeeded modern-day Ultegra
-Lightweight Italian Columbus tubing. Google it if you don't know.
-All cables and housing in great shape, freshly tuned
-700c wheelset , so plenty of options for tires
Price is negotiable, but I will ignore you if I've gotten a better offer. Is haggling over 40 bucks worth missing out on the bike of a lifetime? You must pick this up at my workshop in Dorchester, near Fields Corner.

For 2 Raleigh and 1 Schwinn 3 speeds, you may want to look at these.
Classic Schwinn & Raleigh Bikes
I bought the largest gents Sports, but as far as I know - the other bikes are available. I would facilitate a purchase, but I do not do shipping.

No one over in the tandem forum starts out recommending an old bike to me, they are uniformly described as either very noodly for racy models or very heavy for recreational models. At the top of the market, comparing these Paramounts to a Santana or Co-Motion, or at the bottom of the market, an old Twinn to a current T900, you can see there has been plenty of innovation in tandems.
However I do know my early Santana is a helluva quality build and rides like it. For vintage, its a silky sled and climbs like a goat. Exclusive specially made tubing per their spec, trick boom tube, etc.. But had they continued with the model things might be different for them today. Confidential discussion and what was shared with me, I don't think any builder would consider going in that build / construction method as a regular model offering.

I think Santanna and Bilenky really had a positive influence on the development of tandems.

^ No doubt when another player comes to a limited market, especially a larger company, that slice taken away from the exclusive small builder cost. Anyways, what do I know.... I'm just an end user and also like old schtuff.
Just like the never ending debate with some talking bikes... modern CF vs. steel blab, this that. And just like tandems, there's a wide variety of type and application. The talk of what one does or rides vs. another is doubling troubling. Can't forget about the stoker.
A few weeks ago I came across a couple on their vintage Paramount tandem. Neat to see them using it, regardless. Anyways, it had the 'S' tube stoker seat tube. Made me think of a website and some fellow having a '47 Claud Butler with this design. Made for multi duty including track racing.

Interesting old bike. Doesn't look like anything to write home about, but it has Reynolds tubing (looks like 531) and the price is right.
At least it doesn't have gas pipes.

Lots of great parts. I would love to get my hands on the chain guard, Zefal pump and shifting equipment. Unfortunately the fork seems tweaked. I might be wrong though.
