Price like that leaves plenty left over for the repaint. If I was within a couple of hours of this, I'd be in the car right now.

I was hoping no one would find this. I had no plans in getting rid of this ever, but life happens and so does unexpected bills. Hoping things change real quick and I can keep it, but it don't look good.

Near-Mint Condition 1994 Trek 520 -- Looks Incredible
[h=2]Near-Mint Condition 1994 Trek 520 -- Looks Incredible - $540 (Arlington)[/h]

craigslist - Map data OpenStreetMap

(google map) (yahoo map)

condition: like new
make / manufacturer: Trek
model name / number: 520
size / dimensions: 17"

I have a near-mint condition Trek 520. The original owner bought it ~20 years ago, rode it a few hundred miles, and hung it up in her shed until recently. It's ready to tour across the world, and for a fraction of the price of a new bike with very similar technology.

The Trek 520 is one of the timeless touring bikes. It's got braze-ons galore, wider spacing, very sturdy wheels, double-butted steel True Temper AVR frame, made in the USA like they used to be, and is ready to go wherever you want to take it. You really have to see it to understand the condition it's in.

This bike will fit someone around 5'5" to 5'9". If it were my height then there's no way I'd sell it. It's a beautiful bike. Bottom bracket center to top tube is 17". Top tube length is ~21"

I've cleaned it up thoroughly, replaced the tubes / tires, and replaced the bar tape.

I'm pretty sure it's this bike, so you can check it for specs: 1994 Trek 520 - BikePedia

Usual rules: $540 OBO, cash only, phone number in your response.

So sorry to hear about your unexpected bills, I hope things get straightened out for you soon so you can keep this bike.

Its a cool bike if I wasn't such a tightwad I wouldn't mind buying it, but spending that kind of money for an older bike doesn't make any logical financial sense for me, and seeing that I own several vintage bikes and knowing that they're not going up in value in any appreciable way other than maybe keeping pace with inflation I'm not about to spend $1000 for for something like that. In fact I think recently around here anyways, bike prices may have fallen because for awhile I would see Schwinn Varsities and the such go for over $100, now I'm seeing them for between $45 to $60 and the $60 one was in mint condition supposedly.

Anyway I wish you all the best in your financial trying time.

Asking price is spot on. Beautiful bike we've seen a lot recently and I sincerely hope @sloar gets to keep it or it goes to a forum member.

Thanks, the bills aren't serious, it's just that the activities my kids are in are expensive. and we all know our kids are more important than bikes. My wife's checking to see what we can do, but I'm more than willing to help out this way if I can.

If they are playing traveling soccer, you will need a few of these to keep up with the bills.

+1 - if anything it's underpriced, though it's difficult to sell bikes like that on CL.

Yeah, that Falcon has been around for awhile. I outed it to the CR list back in February. It's a pretty low-end bike, perhaps suggested by the Campy GT derailleur, cottered crank, and stamped dropouts/fork ends.
