This classic Olmo on eBay is nothing short of beautiful. Currently sitting at $500 with a reserve but I'm sure it will go well north of that.

As poorly as they were installed, I'm sure they would come off easily. The real sad part is it looks like the derailleur hanger has been removed.

Old French Liberia frame on CL here for $35. Not a project I want to take on at my current minimal skill level, but it looks really cool:

With a full group valuation of $400 that would have to be a $600 frameset. There is something to be said for buying a complete, it's complete, you don't have to pay someone to build wheels or build the bike and in most cases your getting a discounted 'group rate' for buying it complete. In general it takes about 13 buys to piece to together a bike, at an average of $10 per buy your looking at $130-180 in shipping charges alone!!! At $80 shipping for the bike you saving upwards of $100 in shipping charges!!

All that being said I'd say that's a $700-750 bike.
Thanks. That's quite informative.

The suicide levers, kickstand, and white walls (shudder) all say U08, but the frame appears to be an honest-to-goodness PX10. Hope someone here buys it and does it some justice.

What's the situation with the white fork? (Other internet photos show matching forks).
Replacement after a collision?

For only twice the price (shipping not incl.) you could have had the rest of the bike come along with it!

I've been foolishly lusting after this for a while now. I've never had an Italian...bicycle...before.

Not even sure if it's worth it, or whether or not that's the original fork (paint job and no clubs), but I've been pondering a move to the brifter side.

Two very unusual but also difference between them Le Champions in Madison, WI

https://madison.craigslist.org/bik/5153140489.html
1984 Motobecane Le Champion full Campagnolo Record excellent condition - $850 (MADISON) < >

1984 Motobecane Le Champion in excellent condition.
99% original a few minor scuffs and chips.

Columbus SL "lugless" frame/fork, Hidden cable mount along top tube.
Campagnolo Nuovo Record hubs to Mavic Gel280 hoops. Continental Sprinter 250s glued on (comes with spare Shimano/Super Champion clincher wheelset)
Cinelli Aero Stem, Cinelli Bars (will include original Phillipe Bars and Atax stem)
Campagnolo Nuovo Record Levers, comes with tan cane creek hoods instead of the original campy ones
Campagnolo Nuovo Record Brakeset/original campy pads
Campagnolo Nuovo Record Headset
Campagnolo Nuovo Record Cranks
Campagnolo Nuovo Record Front deraileur
Campagnolo Nuovo Record rear deraileur
Campagnolo Nuovo Record shifters
Campagnolo Nuovo Record black pedals, Mks clips, white leather straps
Selle San Marco Roll White Saddle, decent shape
Atax seatpost

This bike is in overall remarkable shape. It was the second best bike made by Motobecane in that era, though it is better specd than the competing Team Champion in my opinion. 2 owners since 1984. It's a head turner and you not likely to see another one, especially in this condition any time soon. Never gets ridden and is taking up space otherwise I would probably take this one to the grave with me.

Original catalog and specs can be seen here

and this knockout!
Incidentally, the original retail was $580 in 1975 / le champion in silver lilac.

https://madison.craigslist.org/bik/5185256150.html
vintage Motobecane Le Champion - $550 (7341 Donna Dr, Middleton) < >

Motobecane Le Champion, 1975. Silver lilac; 23 inch.

Very clean condition. Original owner, well cared for. In storage since 1987. Before mothballing, bike was fully disassembled and cleaned; bearings were cleaned and relubricated.

Only minor scratches, but this is the original paint and decals. There are a few spots where some blistering suggests you may want to touch up the paint.

With original, matching (and working) Silca pump, with new (NOS) leather washer. Vintage Silca pumps may go for over $100 on ebay.

Frame: all Reynolds 531 double butted. Butted forks and stays. Campagnolo dropouts.
Chainset: Campagnolo 170 mm cranks & chainwheels, 52T x 42T
Derailleurs: front: Campagnolo Record
rear: Campagnolo Nuovo Record
Brakes: Universal Super 68 sidepulls with rubber-hooded Universal levers
Pedals: Campagnolo steel road type
Saddle: Ideale Peau Extra 2001
Bar & Stem: TTT
Wheels: hubs: Campagnolo Record
rims: Super Champion Competition
tires: Sekai Racer 270 (note! 30 year-old tubulars/sew-ups)

Weight: 22 lbs.

The Bicycling!, September 1975 review of this bike is available at <-- Bicycling Magazine 09-1975 --> Motobecane Le Champion / Mirage

Most of my old mtbs are 26s and I've always enjoyed the heck out of them.

I've looked at doing drop bar conversions and I did one with a Yeti I had here.

Didn't work out quite as well as I would have liked, so when I saw this it looked appealing right out of the box.

The allure of this would be to use the new Compass tires as well.

We'll see what these look like when they hit the market.
