Based on the decals and unicrown fork, it appears to be very late 1980s. It's really hard to tell what the components are. Could be LX or Exage, which would make it a Sport SX. They're not 105. Could be Limited with 600/Ultegra. Shouldn't be a Campione d'Italia as they were SunTour equipped during this period. That's definitely a BioPace chainring. Just thought I'd put in my two cents worth before anyone asls for an identification.

MOD EDIT: This is referring to the previous Bianchi post. Another post squeezed in between when I merged it into this thread.

I spoke with the seller of this one. Sorry, no pic, but he bought it new in '79 or so, says it's not seen a whole lot of miles, always kept indoors and it fits him at about 6'4" (he estimated it to be about 61cm). Oh..also said it has 18 gears and all the original equipment. Sounds like a great bike for someone taller than me.

The location is the Johnson City, TN/northeast TN area

https://tricities.craigslist.org/bik/1594812387.html

(I'm not gonna post the ad since there's no pics & it basically just says "call at 423-.....")

Miyata 912 frame and fork 60cm, $95

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/bik/1597084389.html

It's a 1984 Miyata 912 in good condition. This bike is a classic just waiting to be built up. It's lugged steel, made with the famous Miyata triple-butted tubing.
The lugs have crown cutouts. It comes with a Tange Falcon headset (needs to be repacked) and a SR quill stem.

There are some scrapes in the paint on the top tube, but there is no structural damage.

I also have some Shimano 600 components from the same era (downtube shifters, brakes, etc), as well as other stuff. Now's the time to build a bicycle for the spring season, and my garage needs to be cleared out for more projects.

And jeez, spell Gazelle right. It's right there on the bike. And it's Dutch, not Danish! Jeez, jeez!

This is an older retired couple who live in my neighborhood if anyone needs me to act as the middleman for shipping/packing or taking some better pic's......I purchased the other Raleigh they listed on CL yeterday, which was my size. Mrs Bigwoo wouldn't let me come home w/ more than 1 unless I'm willing to sell a Serotta, which I'm not willing to do...
The guy is nice but doesn't use the internet much, I think.

60cm Jim Merz Tri/racing bike which would shock me if it has more than 50mi on it. It was extremely pristine but nowhere near my size: https://denver.craigslist.org/bik/1597538364.html

He says this is a 52cm 1971 Raleigh Carlton Gran Sport, but I believe that it's a club machine from the late 1960's based on what I saw. Paint has some wear, but it's a fine touring machine otherwise: https://denver.craigslist.org/bik/1597581055.html.

I'd like to hear from Kurt as to why the catalog calls them "Gran Sport" but the bike is labeled "Grand Sports". What's that about?

If I were local and this was a Jim Merz handbuilt frame, I'd snatch it up in an instant. But, is this a Merz handbuilt, or is it a Merz 'designed' Specialized? The components and that decal suggest the latter.

I believe that you're correct. It looked like one of the Jim Merz Allez SE models to me. I don't know how those compared to the 3Rensho's but it looked quite fine to me. I was mostly there for the Raleigh Professional and didn't know much about Jim Merz until after I got home and researched the name. The 600 group was nice, not Arabesque and more modern looking. I skipped over it pretty quickly after I saw the head tube; 60cm is far too big for me and I knew right away from the length of the HT.

Oh, a Specialized Allez is still worth the $250 - it would simply be extra special and an amazing deal if it were a Merz custom built frame.

Seller is willing to ship from an LBS but wouldn't budge on price.

Best I can tell it's a '90 from the catalog and graphics.

I think this is it: https://4.bp.blogspot.com/_whtVpXkKwl...0-h/img247.jpg

I cobbled together the two catalog pages (as if I had anything better to do...):
