If you are seriously interested in something, don't post it here. There are a lot of lurkers who look at this thread for a quick flip.

Yea, I thought about that but then decided to chance it. I'm 3 hours from the bike so I guess if someone gets it before I do I'll keep looking.

Seller decided to keep the bike....yet it is still listed on CL. Frustrating.

I love the details on this bike.. however, the price might be (is probably?) inflated, and that don't look like a 55cm frame to me...

Thanks. That is a contender, along with most of the usual 80's Japanese touring rigs.

I like this very much too - looks much smaller than 55. 52 maybe.

It really is guys.

I paid in that range for a DS frameset.

....and I thought I got a good deal on that!!!!!

If this one checks out structurally upon inspection, it wouldn't take very much to have her in proper order.

Tires, pedals, a nice Brooks and maybe some bars.....

1980's Motobecane Le Champion frame Reynolds 501 steel
[h=2]1980's Motobecane Le Champion frame Reynolds 501 steel - $50 (Lowell)[/h]

I have for sale a vintage 1980's Motobecane Le Champion frame 58cm size with Reynolds 501 steel tubing and seat binder bolt. I am selling it as a project since I don't have any of the spare parts to build it up myself. The overall condition is good could use some polishing but there are no dings or dents. It will make for a great single speed and with cool retro paint it will sure to draw some attention. Sold for cash and pick up only. Please mention name, item, location and a phone number for a response all other emails will be considered spam. Thanks

I agree, the Voyageur is a sleeper too, you can find these for less than $225 in really nice condition, and they're not real heavy somewhere around 24 to 25 pounds compared to a modern Trek 520 that weighs 30 pounds, and the Voyageur was used by a lot of people for cross country touring that carried more touring gear weight then today do to the fact that today's touring gear is a lot lighter.

So the Voyageur was no wimpy bike. I have the Le Tour Luxe and I do just weekend tours on it but it's held up fine, I also have a Voyageur but that was a trash can baby, and it's one size to large for me but I can ride it and it everything works just needs some TLC and then it would be in good shape.
