All I do now when planning a road trip is look at the craigslist postings along the way. While probably very normal on this forum, a pretty hard habit to explain to loved ones. Here's a neat find but way more than I'd be able to pay now:
1993 Trek 520 Touring Bike, Lugged Steel Frame

The ebay listing reads "MSRP in 1989 -$3500". I highly doubt that bike cost $3500 in 1989. Not a chance.

So I was not totally successful at resisting the allure of that De Rosa. I managed to resist bidding on it, but it didn't sell. I had already contacted the seller, so I'm checking it out on Wednesday lunch time, and we've sort of tentatively agreed on a price - a little below the auction start price, if I decide to go for it.

Ahh I wondered if we were looking at the same bike. That will be good, you'll get a great deal and save on shipping, seller will save $70-100 in fees. Post pics if it works out!

Campy Record threaded headset at Wiggle

I didn't think this was quite worthy of a separate thread but Wiggle has these 1" for $56 shipped. It has been extremely rare for me to find a good condition complete used one for less than $50. Took a little over a week to arrive and no duties or broker fee shenanigans.

Thanks for the heads up. Having not bought a headset newer than about 1986, what threading are these? I assume they are now ISO and not Italian?

I know these Centurion Ironman bikes have their fans, so here is one for $325. Listed size (26?) is suspect, tho, IMO.

Vintage Cannondale road bike Shimano 105/Dura Ace
[h=2]Vintage Cannondale road bike Shimano 105/Dura Ace - $375 (Quincy)[/h]

For sale is my vintage Cannondale with Shimano components and Dura Ace hubs. The bike is in great mechanical condition. There are scuffs here and there but it goes with the age of the bike. It is sized on the large side I estimate like 58 to 60 cm. I am 6'1" and fit well on it. I felt a little cramped on the cockpit and found a different bike that fits me best. This one has to go. I also have a second set of rims (factory ones) that will be included in the sale. No pedals are included with the bike. The price is pretty firm.

Thanks for looking

Hard to see what is there, but the nearest bike looks like it has bar-end shifters and cantis -maybe a Volpe?

FYI, I bought the De Rosa. It looked as sweet in real life as it did in the listing, and it rides very nicely and fits me perfectly. But it's a bit of a mutt. It appears to be a late 1980s Columbus SL frame with a mixture of early-mid 1990s Campy groups (some Chorus, some Record, some Veloce). But I'm pretty sure that the mixed bag of components is the only reason I was able to get a De Rosa in San Diego in that condition for $650 all in.

Someone buy this thing to get it away from the current owner to prevent...

"It looks gorgeous now but would be stunning with a set of white walled tires."

It's always a surprise where these links will take me. Depending on the website, I sometimes go right there and at other times wind up off in right field, deep down the foul line.

With those aero levers, it may not be as original as the seller thinks that it is. But, it does appear to be in good shape.
