Hi jetboy. I can't PM yet, still a few posts short of the privilege. Thanks so much for your facilitation offer. I managed to work out arrangements with the seller and an LBS near him and should have the frame by the end of the week! If we hadn't I would have definitely taken you up on the offer.

'70s vintage 56cm Peugeot PX-10 Road Bike

If the ad is still up, the Peugeot is still available.

I will delete the ad when the bike has sold.

Early '70s 56cm Peugeot PX-10 vintage, classic French road bicycle. Bicycle is in great, used condition. Paint has a nice vintage patina (rough in spots with chips/scuffs, but no dents, dings or damage to the frame).

Reynolds 531 steel frame & fork w/ Nervex lugs, 700c Super Champion wheels, high flange hubs, skinwall Michelin tires (in great shape), Stronglight crankset, Simplex front (non-original) & rear derailleurs, Shimano bar-end shifters, Mafac "Racer" brakes, Avocet saddle (very nice+++ condition), and brand new, pearl Benotto bar tape.

Bike could use some minor tuning, but shifts and rides smoothly as-is. This is a beautifully made, collectible, road bike direct from France. Buy it and get your Eddy Merckx on!

Some would consider this an upgrade but many would not.

Good catch. If I'm looking at this correctly, the serial number points to a 1980 frame, and the "Flying C" logo was introduced in 1978. Agree with your points also.

Regardless of price, this is quite the exotic Japanese vintage lightweight. I like everything about it and so different.

Sounds like you got a good deal; on the other hand, I might note that not all De Rosas are created equal (or are equally desirable). This one looks like a seller trying to recoup some of the cost of an expensive restoration, which is understandable (but which also makes for a far more difficult sale).

And for that price I'd expect a fresh restoration, not one with that many scratches.
