Yeah, I remember the bike now, it was up in Victorville so the guy must have a lot of spare time on his hands to drive 2 hours.
To pay $230 the bike better have a full matching grouppo and have new cables and grease everywhere. This guy.... not a chance.

The other guy is in Riverside and seems to purposefully takes the worst blurry pics ever seen of every bike. Also lists high.

1981 51c Grandis race bike. Italian frame, bike built in Excelsior, Mn
Paid 1500 in 81.
Full Campagnolo record group.
Excelent condition under 1200 miles. No rust, few small chips
Yellow on graphite paint, Columbus tubing.
Been well stored since 86.
Only "issue" is the rims are sew up, they are still in excelent shape and can be used,
standerd rims can be bought for about 50 a set, i have'nt done it to maintain the original parts.
The hubs are incredible, they just spin better than my brand new shimano/Vuelta Zerolite set.

This ad in Chicago was on for all of 30 minutes... I called at 3:13, and if you pay attention to CL ads, you know that it takes 5-10 minutes for the ad to appear after the date stamp.
I called and made arrangements to buy it for $200.00 sight unseen, and was 10 miles away in minutes. I even forgot to ask what size it was in the excitement... turns out it is MY size!

I did question the amount of gears, but the seller was adamant that the bike was a 20 speed. No point in arguing. When I got there, the gentleman said that he had already received many calls. I think he hoped I would pass it up, but he honored the price, have to give him credit for that. I purchased the bike, and left speeds 11 through 20 with him, I didn't need the additional ones.

It's dirty as hell, but I began gently cleaning it up... it will clean up wonderfully.

Photos when I get my camera back. I will find and post a photo of the same model to stand in. Yes, I know it doesn't exist yet... be patient.

I think that bike in that condition is actually worth the $3200 he's asking.

Well done! Very excellent score. FYI, I was one of the people who left a voicemail with a higher offer (at 3:52 ).

You'd better bring that out to a ride this spring so I can see it in person!

Fuji Newest, somewhere between 1978-1980. RD and pedals have been replaced. Terrible pictures. Seems a tad high for CL, but I'd offer $150-200.

https://inlandempire.craigslist.org/bik/1602593768.html

My Fugi is a nice road bike for any college student or intermediate cycler. I am 6 ft tall and it fits me perfectly. It has fairly new tires, in great condition and has a new Diore derailer. Pictures will be posted soon.

Thanks Bibliobob,
Don't worry though, you wouldn't have wanted it anyway... it needs all the bearings greased, tons of hand polishing, all new cables, and sew ups are really a pain! Not only that, but the Brooks Professional saddle needs adjusting. To make matters worse, they only chromed the head tube Nervex lugs! Almost too much work, I'll probably just donate it to Working Bikes.

(sorry, that was just plain mean!) Bikes are for sharing, I'll let you ride it anytime you like

That's the 3rd time in a month that bike's been up on eBay. Didn't sell for $660, last time around I think BIN was $899 plus shipping. Looks very nice, even with the headset issue. Not a Campy guy myself, but have been told that the Athena group is not very desireable, even in what appears to be immaculate and original/light use condition. Wouldn't mind having that frame, tho.

I wonder if those chrome ends on the fork are creating a visual illusion about its straightness?

But at any rate these internet suspicions now have me paranoid about it. I'll take it to my LBS to get a professional opinion. One of the guys there is a framebuilder, so if it is bent, hopefully he can fix it.

It is an '82. The headbadge stamp says 1092 (which led the guy I bought it from to think it was assembled in October of 1992.)

I'm not 100% sure it is tall enough for me, so it may be available to trade for a larger frame. I have not measured it, but I'm guessing it is a 23". I know one is supposed to have all this stuff figured out before one buys a bike, but I've been totally jonesing for an 80's touring bike so I'm hugely trigger happy. (I also bought an '88 Le Tour frame a week ago!)

This is the special, thin-wall 16mm socket required to remove Zeus' crank arm fixing bolts. A regular 16mm socket will not fit.

High shipping, but I wish I had room in my stable for another. Again, this listing has terrible pictures and looks like it has plenty of scrapes, but I'd guess it to auction cheaply if you live in the area.

Vintage Eddy Merckx Bike w/ Campy Record circa 1987 - $1500 (Chelmsford)

Reply to: sale-gek2f-1602585679@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

Quality Eddy Merckx bike all original except the seat! Handmade in Belgium. It has quality vintage Campy Record components throughout. A very detailed bike. I hate to get rid of the bike but want to pass it on to someone who can fully appreciate its worth. I also have two additional Aimerica by Regina freewheels to go with it (13-18, 13-21). Mavic wheel set with blade spokes. This bike was setup for racing in the late 80s and early 90s. It was the top of the line bike at the time. If you know bikes, you will know this is an unbelievable and rare bike. Serious inquires only. I can provide more specs if you are serious.
Stand over height is about 33". Center of crank to the to the top of the top post = 57cm. Center of seat post to center of steering tube =55cm.
Am a little flexible on price, But I know what this level of bike is worth to the right person. Looking for a late model road bike. Would be willing to trade.
