I've an eye on this. I have a friend about an hour away from it willing to pick it up. Transportation from there to here becomes blurry however.

Overpriced surely but this is probably a rarity as well:

Rare 56cm 1985 Ochsner Swiss made road bike columbus tubing #977

(this seems like the same guy (or gal) who sells overpriced on ebay but I don't know for certain. I saw another Swiss bike that I thought merited being posted) Also, I'll add on that the seller seems to have a ton of bikes if this looks good.

Here is a Kabuki Submariner $1500, that's got to be way over priced, I think I saw one elsewhere for $150, $180 range on the Minneapolis Craig's List if anyone wants to check it out, the guy in Minneapolis is on the "Re-Cycle" website as well, so he might ship, just saying, in case anyone is interested..

Thanks, I just look at the Prixs as kind of a pass time, one of my emails is called Raleigh Grand Prix as well.

This is interesting that 2 Raleigh Records are on the Milwaukee Craig's List, both are blue and painted much like a Raleigh Grand Prix, blue kind. Both ads boast having a "Milremo" quill alloy stem.

1972 RALEIGH Record road bike, 59cm, Professionally reconditioned! (Actually, it's the seller in Chicago with the stairs in the background) $240

https://janesville.craigslist.org/bik/5452997814.html Very similar blue Raleigh Record with the "Milremo". $350. (smallish)

I'm a bit skeptical of at least at selling for as much as $350.

Provided @Vonruden isn't already sniping this, he's a stone's throw from it. He knows how to get bikes around the country, so if you want help, he's the guy to ask.

I love how the seller made more-or-less every measurement possible, except those which would help a potential buyer:

From back of the back tire to the front of the front tire is 64 1/2". From the ground to center bar is 31". The center bar from the seat to the steering area is 20 1/2". From the bottom bar to the sprocket assembly is 22 1/2". The frame itself from the back wheel to the front forks is 38". The handlebars are 16 1/2" wide.
"... to the steering area" gives me a mental image of Jerry Seinfeld in a stand-up routine waving his hands around while saying something vague:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfYzlSNHapA

(Great comment about eBay and garbage - what would Jerry have to say about the Box O' Crap?) But I digress.

Nothing fancy, but the color is rather nice (in a 1980s sort of way):

A vintage Marinoni currently going begging on Ebay:

Vintage Italian Steel Marinoni Road Bike Bicycle Frame Fork Italy Campy Drops | eBay

Looks like a late-70s version. Paint has seen better days, but the chrome on the chainstay looks to be in good shape, so rust is probably not an issue. If this were one size bigger I'd buy it for myself and make it my crappy-day bike.

For that price it had better come with a Rolex Submariner

Nice looking Eisentraut in Milwaukee

https://milwaukee.craigslist.org/bop/5461693904.html

craigslist - Map data OpenStreetMap

(google map)

Albert Eisentraut, Rainbow Trout. Frame was built in 1987, it had been hanging on the wall at the Wastyn shop in Chicago until 2010/11 when I purchased it. It was NOS. For those who don't know Albert worked at the Wastyn shop in his more youthful days. I've probably only put 500 miles on it. Great bike, too many bikes don't ride it enough. yada yada. Built with campy 8 speed and mix/match of decent parts which is sort of in alignment with his philosophy of frame building. He was one of the first builders to mix and match between different tube sets to find the right combination of tubing to optimize the ride quality. But if your interested you probably already know about this builder and how progressive he was in his day. I have the original receipt of purchase, which is an embarrassing number I will not disclose until I hand it over with the bike.

If it didn't fit I would of considered it - but honestly - what's left is in really poor shape - as you can guess from the pictures - and not sure how much of it is even original.

Like I said, in the previous post, I agreed to meet the buyer to purchase it, was on my way, and he called back to say a bike shop told him it was "worth about" $2500. Then I turned around for home.

So there you have it.

Sorry to hear about that...it will be interesting to see what it actually sells for....I often think we over value our bikes...buy low and want to sell high. there was a gios that was on the list for a month at 1200 and was removed by the seller...leave a number, not sure it will go for 2000.
Regards, Ben

I'm not too worked up about it. Win some, lose some. It's clearly worth more than $400 and I was willing to pay it. However, there's a few vintage bikes I'd be willing to pay over a grand for. A Gios that needs a full rebuild isn't one. Especially when I'm speaking to Chris Kvale about a custom build.
