So, no link but comes up on PDX CL still because the other bike can still be had. The one that sold already was an original owner custom tiny 48cm John Howard by Dave Moulton that was probably under $250 as the pair was $500 asking price. Looked to be in good shape from the poor pic especially for the age and having been a commuter.

[h=2] Vintage Fuji Ace Road Bike, 55cm, 1989/90, Sweet - $150 (Southern NH) [/h]

do NOT contact me with unsolicited services or offers
Circa 1989/1990 Fuji Ace Road Bike

With the exception of the tires and saddle, pretty much all original, even down to the bar tape.

Suntour Blaze and Edge components; seven-speed Accushift.

It's probably(?) considered a Fuji "56" frame, but I measure 55cm+ for both the seat tube and top tube, center-to-center.

Fully lugged frame. Ishiwata triple-butted cromoly tubing. Nice horizontal rear dropouts.

Could use a good cleaning and lube, but overall it's in very good condition for a 26-year-old bike. No dings or dents and no rust to speak of.

This bike will clean up nicely and you'll have a rare, unique classic road bike that's sure to get compliments.

One female owner since new.

I like it but it's a little too small for me.

Asking $150 or best offer.

Available in the Salem New Hampshire area; I-93 near the NH/MA border.

Please include a PHONE NUMBER in your reply. Thanks.

You can see a pic of the Fuji specs using the link below.

Big Boy Bike

Large! (67cm) Univega Viva Sport frame & fork - $40

Sounds like someone who loves bikes as much as we do:
This is a straight-gauge chromoly lugged frame, made in Japan in the early 80s. Univega was one of the few companies manufacturing such large frames. It's straight, no kinks / dents, with minimal finish damage. 100mm front spacing, 126m rear spacing. 67cm seat tube, about 62-63cm top tube. Fork and bottom bracket threads are clean.

The axle and bottom bracket race and headset are included, but not pictured. The top headset race isn't great.

The bad? The seatpost (a nice fluted SR) is stuck. I don't know how badly -- really, I've not tried and this isn't code for "I tried and it's truly stuck but I don't want to tell you" -- so you might be looking at lubricants or ammonia, or at the worst you're drilling it out with a step bit.

Bosses for two water bottles; brazed-on stud to prevent chain-jumping; braze-on for rear derailleur cable; three rear brake cable guides on the top of the top tube.

I'm coating the interior with ProGold framesaver tonight.

I'll respond to emails containing a phone number or letting me know what part of town you're coming from (or whatever other proof you want to offer that you're a human+non-scammer). Cheers!

I'll put up more photos next week

I got nervous when I saw it posted here. The Other nice part is I have a client meetng in NYC next week - so it's not terribly inconvenient to pick this up en route.

Excellent, Aaron!
(I hear you about posting links. Sorry about that but glad it worked out. Sometimes though, one never knows. It goes both ways as I've found stuff for others and some found for me. Looking forward to seeing more of that prize. Did you get any history about it?

Great score on that Mooney Aaron, I thought it would go for much more than that too.

Definitely post this stuff! You did absolutely nothing wrong, that's the whole point of the thread. It just made me cross my fingers a bit, that's all.

He doesn't really know anything, to him it was just a bike in an auction. He's being honest with me, he knows he can get more for it at this point and he's honoring the sale. Have to admire that.

I outed this on Classic Rendezvous yesterday. It's 65cm, so not for everybody, and not cheap (perhaps the seller will back off a bit). I didn't recognize the name, Platano Cycle Works, but Richard Bryne said the builder was Bruce Hecht, a part-time builder. If you're intrigued by practically unknown American framebuilders, and you can hoist your leg over this one, it might be worth investigating. Note that it will need a bit of repair, as the front derailleur guide on the bb shell is pulling up. (I hope that's not indicative of the quality of the brazing elsewhere on the bike.)
