I agree - I think, given the condition, price is about right.

After the Cinelli, the one bike that I'm very tempted to buy is @Vonruden's Zunow. I should mention it here. Maybe somebody might buy it to eliminate the temptation.

Thanks for the heads up! Interesting. I think I've seen a Ficelle before.

Here's an interesting deal, I've been to REI ever so often, they have Novara bikes,

https://stcloud.craigslist.org/bik/5525277785.html
Decent deal but obviously, out in the boonies, Rice Minnesota, only $125, tange frame. Not far from Coon Rapids at that.

I guess that does have a triple crank.

I assume REI was around in the early '90s; I don't know myself. They are the only ones that sell Novara, I thought it was a house brand.

This sweet ride is all original parts. It has the gold fasteners...just lovely. And yes, it has lugs
Nice! Here's a seat that you might or might not like: Cinelli Saddle. Vintage. Rare. Gold splatter.

https://budgetbicyclectr.com/online-b...ufacturer.html

A lot of vintage bikes here; out of Madison, so perhaps it is that seller on ebay but some of the prices are up to I'd say, 3 or more times one would want to pay.

They even have a museum, say they have 5000 bikes and it is a big store; one really wonders what the fellow's connections are!

But too much to pay generally, maybe one could find parts they really need, maybe they have that Benotto yellow handlebar tape.

Edit On: https://luxlow.com/ out of Florida, I'm still undecided about this website, some very vintage antique American bikes; it sounds like they do custom, dare I say "rat rod" work as well and restoration.

Anyway, good or bad, good to see people make a living at bikes.

1989 Team Miyata with Dura Ace components and extra set of wheels.
Difficult to tell condition from the usual poor quality pictures however not an unreasonable price.
Not mine and no connection but for local fans of these bikes likely worth looking into.

i got this for $1200 from Kansas city CL... he had it local for 1000, i offered 1100 just to shut out local competition and lock it in.... it was a revenge buy after missing out on a torelli Ti fame, and a felt carbon bike i missed out on. ebay.. just started hunting CL... my method was try all of the cycling mecas and see if i could score a good deal on a right sized TI frame or bike.. checked NC, CO, CA, TX and then went mid west and tried MO.. and foud this.. ding ding ding... bingo.

its a mad house out on craigslist.. and i knew i would have to sweeten the pot to get the deal so i went 100 bucks over asking price.. and the guy was a real sport giving me history and complete rundown of bike.. photo shoot and fit questions... really super happy,, first time using the CL..

heck the wheels alone are worth 6 or 700 bucks..
kitted out wiith full newish ultegra 10
vortex 61cm frame..... freaking rare!!
dt swiss 535 3x laced to DA 10 hubs
i posted it else were... for give the enthusiasm,,

just really happy about the deal on my dream ride..

Congratulations. What a gorgeous bike. I had a 1992 Litespeed Ultimate which had an excellent ride. I'll own another titanium bike again someday.

Offering more than asking price is often a brilliant strategy. I saw an item way underpriced on CL once, called the seller, and was informed that he already had a buyer lined up. I said if the sale didn't work out, I'll buy the item for more than the ask. The item was delivered to my house within a half hour

Luxlow is out of Colorado now and on ebay where you can get an idea of his reputation: luxlowbikes | eBay
Budget Bicycle Center is way high on pricing. Maybe they negotiate or just want to keep everything for the "museum".

Thanks. That's a good looking saddle. I'll pass because the existing saddle on the Cinelli is in good shape and matches the leather handlebar wrap.

1973 Raleigh Grand Prix redo

I agree, the price is too high at least for many of us; but it is interesting to see how people "classicize" a bike. A very common RGP looking splendid.

I did ponder the idea of swooping in and grabbing this, since I have never owned a Raleigh and would like to try a larger frame, but I would probably have to part with something else in the process.

Now that's what I call a Winter Project! Probably got the bike for fitty bucks or less, and then added the right bits and bobs to make it stand out from the crowd. A careful read of the ad reveals a very shrewd economy at work here. He spent money on the things that would "pop", and left the rest underwhelmingly stock. He kept the standard wheels; no 700c conversion, so stock brakes. Very smart, this one... but notice he doesn't comment on how it rides? Still, $100 saddle, $200 fenders, tires and stem; he's probably breaking even at $400 - but it gave him something to do on those long winter nights.

Green really goes with those woody fenders: anyway, the photo again, I thought was very picturesque; I grew up in the Southwest but have relatives in Minnesota where I have been for the past several years. I've even biked a few of these winters but some of the summer scenes are just so nice like the one with that Raleigh.
