I suspect this is grail pricing, but it's at least worth gawking at.

[h=2]RARE 1979 Motobecane Team Champion - $1200 (Northfield/Plymouth, MN)[/h]RARE 1979 Motobecane Team Champion

Extremely Rare Special edition This was a special edition of Motobecane's top bike model to commemerate the 1979 Tour de France bike and win. So it was a late 79 early 80 model. Normal Team Champions were always Orange this edition is Blue. It came with a Combination of Campagnolo Record and Super record components. Open lug frame built with Columbus tubing. This was the last race bike I bought as my racing days were coming to an end. It might have 50 miles on it. Other than the tires I believe it to be all original. I assembled this bike new out of the box and it has traveled with me through several moves and has always hung in my garage. It is very dusty and even has a little surface rust on the chrome, but it will shine up like new. No road rash. Not ridden since 1981. Will also include custom freewheel kit and extra chain rings. They are only original once.

The seller is telling a tall tale hoping someone will bite. The 1979 Tour de France was won by Bernard Hinault on a Gitane.

I never saw such color so I had my doubts plus I am as far from expert on P as it can be :-) It had more modern looking crank, 90s or so, stem for sure was not original - that's about all I can remember

I bet that the yellow Pinarello will be re-listed in Toronto for a thousand bucks.

This Bianchi Brava for $200 is a pretty good deal (for the Toronto market)

Still a nice looking bike. And it has the earlier version SR rear derailleur.

When did Motobecane change the Champion Team over to blue? 1978?

Here is a Raleigh International in my size, but I'm not buying it, tempting as it is. (I have a fantasy of building myself a fleet of Internationals, configured in various ways.) It's in good condition but just a bit dirty. Don't you think it's worth $800, the first bid? I don't know if there is a reserve. Someone should try getting this. I don't know the seller.

1974 Raleigh International Smokin' Copper | eBay

-56 cm Double Butted Reynolds 531 frame, fork, stays with chrome fork ends, stays, and dropouts
-Campagnolo front and rear derailleurs, down tube shifters, headset, hubs and dropouts
-Nervex Professional lugs, chromed
-Weinmann levers and center pull brakes, hoods
-Weinmann aluminum rims
-Brooks Professional saddle in immaculate shape
-normal wear expected from a 40 year old bike
-very light, beautiful and well made, relaxed geometry, perfect as a randonneur, tourer, or commuter. High quality frame and components all in great shape for their age!!! This was Raleigh's 2nd from the top of the line and it shows. Very desirable color as well.

For shipping cost, I ship via bike flights, very reasonable...provide me with your zip and I'll get you the exact cost before payment.

Looky, a Kabuki. One of those weird lugged type. Maybe if one has some spare older Suntour parts laying around, wheels, etc. could have a funky neat Bridgestone to show off.

I was with two other forum members at the Chicago swap meet some months back and recognize this bike. Its really nice. Seller has two of them and the story is he or someone else found them in a storage unit. At the show / swap and if I correctly recall, he offered a package deal, the two for $1200.

It appears that the switch was in 1977 when they started using Columbus tubing rather than Reynolds.

I think you're right about the color but wrong about the tubing. Iirc 77 was the year they were 753; after that they were Columbus. They were blue in 77 but more of a robin's egg color. The bike shown is what Moto called brilliant blue and is a metallic finish.

Nice bike but I agree about the pricing. At the very least if you're going to ask that you should clean the rust off!

You're right the switch was to 753 for '77 and then to Columbus.

Cycling season is definitely upon us. Get out and enjoy the great weather on this 16 speed, Direct Drive/Carbon Fiber Composite Design bike. It is a little older and probably needs a tuning, but the gears and brakes work well. It has Mavic Wheels with 700 x 23 c tires. The frame is 21"

All proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit the local Boy Scout Troop that I and my sons are involved with. We hold a "Giant Yard Sale" as our main fundraiser the day before Mother's Day each year. This is the time of year when we collect many items, but storage space is limited. Therefore we try to keep things organized by selling off some of the larger or more desirable items prior to the actual sale. Check out our website at Giant Yard Sale: Friends of Troop 74, Chelmsford Ma to see some of our previous sales. We do not list items for sale at that site. Please e-mail questions, call Doug @ 978.935.9474 to discuss, or text to 978.985.8113 to set up a time to view. Thanks for looking. Our next sale is scheduled for May 7, 2016. It will be held rain or shine and will be our 31th sale.

I am as well.

Neat bike.

I've been careful adding more wall hangers though and that's what would happen to this one if I bought it.

I've been trending towards everyday riders, although I still have a couple of Sunday bikes.
