No mention in the ad of the builder but from the pictures this one appears to have some very nice thinned lugs and maybe an interesting fastback seat cluster. If you are in the area and have an interest in custom bikes by American builders this one would be worth checking out. Could be a fabulous frame.

Well done, Alaska never makes this thread from what I have seen. I was looking at the Alaska Craig's Lists not long ago. Well done.

Looks like a unicorn 2001 centurion for $60. Firm though, seller knows what is up.

Seems like a good price for a Trek with Reynolds 531 frame (620 or above, right?):

[h=2]'81 Univega Super Special -18 Speed - 57cm - $275 (Belmont)

Top of the line circa 1981 Univega Super Special frameset with Tange Champion double butted tubing throughout, Campagnolo dropouts and nice cut out lugwork. Miyata made frame features their top of the line cut out bottom bracket shell. I picked this frame up as winter project and built it up with Campy record derailleurs, shifters, crankset and seatpost. Wheels are Mavic Open 4CD and Dura-Ace hub in the front and Mavic Open Sport with Shimano 600 hub in the back. Ritchey Tom Slick puncture resistant tires with low miles. Weinmann 605 brakes and Belleri bars and stem. New Shimano bottom bracket. Paint is a bit rough and crank arms show some wear but all bearings are smooth and everything works as it should. $275 or best offer.

I keep hoping to find a steel aero tubing frameset like my old Velo Sport Dura Ace AX equipped bike I relutantly sold back in 1988. Selling that bike was a HUGE mistake!

Cheers

No kidding! I've recently bought most of the pieces he put on there, and I can tell you that there is no way those parts add up to his asking price of $1.4k, even at full retail.

Plus, he probably pieced out the hard-to-find goodies like original mudguards, chainguard, shifter, rod-brake assembly including handlebar, etc. on ePay. I mean, if this guy actually gets that price for this bike, he's a genius! (Or someone else is a sucker, with more dollars than sense. )

Not the original fork so this deserves extra scrutiny. Full 600 for cheap.

In this case, I thought the seller was creative in putting that Prince mural in. That's all. I thought others around the nation might find that of interest.

bici da corsa
I went and looked at this one. I made a much lower offer than asking price; seller went ballistic. He laughed at me; throw the bike in his trunk. He followed up a nasty email. When we met he told me about his pricing; he itemized each part from Ebay sold listings. I wished him luck and informed him it may be difficult to find a buyer that needs a 48cm bike and is willing to travel to a rural part of the state, etc.......well I guess he did not like what I had to say. Funny thing is..the bike was given to him, free.

I don't think thats a Brooks.... Looks like a Middlemore, which was stock on some AE Pros. Steel replacement fork.... not a "Death Fork"

Ugh. Sorry to hear about your experience -- you never know who or what you're going to encounter on the other side of one of these ads. Thankfully, every single one of my in-person acquisitions to date have been uneventful, even pleasant (knock on wood).

Never heard of this builder, but the bike is a looker for sure. Just needs a pair of gumwall tires.
