I am always curious to see if they seriously believe what they are saying, or they are trying to fish out a noob with money. The psychology of CL really intrigues me... so I wasn't being a jerk for sending the email below to the seller. And if it turns out to be true... won't you guys be eating crow when I hand him $500.00!

"HI,
If you can show me some recent sales that prove it's worth upwards of 1,200 I will buy the bike for $500 as an investment.
Thanks"

I hate to admit this to but I'm really intriged by CL behavior as well. This guy was selling a 88 Paramount (non-anniversary) frameset (with bent fork mind you) for $900 on Portland's craigslist so I sent him a nice email sort of baiting some stupidity. He was really pissed that he got "low balled" by some guy who offered $500 cash. I think that he would be more than lucky to get that price for the frameset.

Got to let this stuff roll off my back...

Craigslist is like driving in a car.

Most people adhere to a certain reasonable behavior. But some of them have to pass you on the right and cut you off as they approach the line of parked cars. Getting ahead of others should be a gentleman's sport, not a death race.

Posting that mixte is sort of like driving a Hummer with the heavy speakers pounding in the back, highbeams on, swerving like a MF, and parking diagonally at the Walmart with the engine running. Lot's of negative attention.

And an '82 Voyageur. 58cc. It's in Connecticut, not quite 2 hours from my house and so far only $50. Someone should bid on it before I do. I don't need another bike but I sorta like the looks of this one.

80s colnago super frame/ fork - $250 (Phila)

80s colnago super frame and fork. The frame has been stripped down. The fork is chrome. Both are Columbus slx steel
____________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________
I'm sure that this could be talked down if anyone wants a rather extensive Colnago project...I also emailed him and received the following:

Parts and paint have been stripped. I grinded off the shifter bosses then bondo and sanded

Rickert 58cm german racing bike frame and fork - $275 (berkeley)

Date: 2010-02-28, 6:29PM PST
Reply to: sale-fucrb-1622517130@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

This price is for frame and fork only. Reynolds 531 double butted frame with Campagnolo Horizonal dropouts, nice for single speed build. This bike has nicer details than production frames but is a little rougher than the italian pedigree frame.Hugo Rickert is one of the finest frame builers in Germany he equipped the german national teams (Track mostly) for some timeanad therefore had connections to some US riders. This bike ride very nicely but the decals are very worn, but it has a nice patina and interesting lugs. 510 331-4773

Nikkorod...it's tragic. I debated whether to slam him via email, but it's his bike and I didn't see the point. I think that bike could be salvaged, but it would be an expensive labor of love.

Men's Fontan is back, at a reasonable sounding $250. Upon emailing the seller, it has too high of a standover for me at 35"

Mens Fontan Touring Bicycle (Stunning) - $250 (Downers Grove,Illinois)

Reply to: sale-bfdce-1622854901@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

This is a Fontan (Made in France) 10 speed Touring bicycle. The frame is constructed of lugged steel. The frame size is 25 inches (approximately 62cm) and will fit riders over 6'2 inches. The bike is equipped with 27 inch wheels with large flange Mallard quick release hubs and new 27X1 1/4 yellow stripe sidewall tires, Huret 10 speed friction downtube shifters and derailleurs, new chrome chain, Mafac racer centerpull brakes with quick releases and new brake shoes, threadless stem adapter with aluminum stem with a 3 degree rise, aluminum handlebars with engraved center portion,
Dura Ace drilled brake levers with gum hoods, Sugino aluminum 3 piece cotterless crankset, aluminum pedals with toe clips, aluminum full front and rear fenders, aluminum front and rear touring racks, front and rear lights with working generator, Ideal French leather saddle and a kickstand. The shifter and brake cables and housing have been repleaced. I recently replaced the original steel cottered crankset with the aluminum Sugino crankset and cleaned and regreassed the bottom bracket. The bike is a glossy red trimmed with the French Fontan decals and in excellent condition. There is no rust or dents on the bike and all scratches and nicks have been touched up. This bike has the long rear horizontal dropouts. The bike can be delivered in the Chicagoland area for a $10.00 delivery fee. Email or call Jack at 630-724-#### with any questions or to request larger photos. I have a lot of photos of this bike. It is a beauty.

1992 SCHWINN PARAMOUNT. 1992, I BOUGHT IT NEW IN ABOUT 1995 FROM STEVE'S BICYCLES IN RM. DELIVERED TO MY WORK AND I RODE IT HOME (ABOUT 5 MILES). NEVER RIDDEN SINCE. WHITE WITH PURPLE SPLATTER PAINT. ORIGINAL DOWN TO GRIP TAPE. DON'T REMEMBER SIZE BUT FITS 6 FOOT PLUS RIDER. THIS IS NOT A WATERFORD PARAMOUNT, BUT AN ASIAN BUILT, PROBABLY PANASONIC, BUT ALL PARAMOUNTS WERE NICE. PRESTIGE TUBING. CAN'T GET PICRUES TO LOAD ON CL, BUT GLAD TO SEND THEM DIRECTLY TO E-MAIL. DUE TO SCAMMERS I RESPOND TO CALLS ONLY. CAGE AND CLIP PEDALS INCLUDED.just been sitting in garage, would need a tune-up-lube i'm sure.
