Stuck stem, but the price is still low for these rare bikes. Please save from "beautiful fixie/single-speed conversion"

1984 Fuji "Opus III" Road Bike - $150 (appleton, WI)

1984 Fuji "Opus III" Road Bike

Up for sale is a 55cm frame, 12-speed, Fuji "Opus III" road Bike. This bike was made with Quad- butted chromoly and is slate/burgandy in color. Only 21 lbs. It is in decsent condition w/ some scratches and minimal surface rust on it and rides nicely. The stem is also stuck but I didn't try to hard to loosen it. It has all original Suntour Superbe alloy components w/ quick-release 700c Ambrosia wheels. Updated saddle. Would be good for a tall sized rider. Have any questions or would like to purchase, call J 277-2361

STEEL IS REAL!!!!!!

This bike has horizontal drop-outs and is perfect as-is or would make a beautiful fixie/single-speed conversion.

I know, I know - Rough and all the way from China and 0 feedback, but it's Paypal. Seems worth the risk.

This is definitely different...

Apparently they were 753 stays bonded to a ti main frame. Looks like an aluminum fork, but I'm not sure. Parts are worth the price and it would make a good donor.

Curious to know what happens. With 0 feedback and the ballz-low prices I couldn't do it.

Heads-up from someone that's gotten ripped off from buying Chinese in the past and just won't do it anymore (50% success): Watch very closely the dates of shipment. The common tactic on scams is to delay you until after it's too late to file a "didn't receive it" claim. Last one for me, the straw that broke the camel's back... I bought a laptop CPU and they shipped. Got "stuck in customs" and I was suspicious, but they provided legit tracking details showing it was delayed. After weeks passed, I finally got the package the day before the cutoff but I'd already left work for the day. Get in the next day, open it up, the "new" CPU was clearly used and had been removed. eBay refused to help because time had passed. Had no recourse. Buyer said "they sorry, mistake made" and asked me to ship back for a refund. Shipped back and never heard from them again. I would've never been able to resell so I was out either way, but ... man. That did it for me.

Got my fingers crossed for you.

Looks like you have 6 months to request refund if you pay with Paypal. But there may be fine print I don't know about . . .

Edit: I just read that fraud is a death penalty offense in China! Wow.

Early Chorus, probably 8 speed. Near Recoed quality, smooth operation and elegant.

It was 2 months back at the time of purchase. This was probably 5-6 years ago now? Felt like a dumbass at the time. Still feel like a dumbass. Almost got swindled on Amazon last year, too. Gotta watch those ship dates, even on Prime stuff. I thought all Prime stuff came in 2 days but not on two occasions: Bought some baloons for my kids 3 years ago with a 14-day lead time, and the package came from China smelling like toxic chemical fumes so I disputed the purchase. Then it happened again last year buying a 10-pack of shift cables which were supposedly Shimano. Paid, 2 weeks later some knockoff cables arrive in a similar brown package from China, cables rough to the touch, clearly not Shimano. Disputed immediately w/Amazon seller, they issued a refund immediately with no questions asked. I reported both to Amazon as fraudulent sellers. I still continue to see things like this with longer lead times, although now hardly any are marked Prime.

It's a crazy world out there.

Campy catalog no 18 for $20.

Campagnolo Catalogue | eBay

This is the one from the mid 80's with exploded diagrams of all the groups and spare parts listing. Seller had 2 for sale and I bought one. FYI I put in an offer of $16 and seller let it die without a response, which irked me, but I decided I wanted it enough to swallow my pride and just buy the damn thing.

Strange build with Suntour components. As the seller practically visits family in my backyard, we have plans to meet. This will be a unique addition to my seven other Schwinn road bikes.

Not like this is a killer-killer deal, but it looks like a good deal for a Jubilee Sport. Clearly can shine and be a great rider for $135 if you're local to the Raleigh-Durham area and have some used-but-rideable consumables on hand. Granted, you could probably find one for $50 less if you sat on it, but this one looks rust (but not dust/mildew) free.
