This poor thing is still languishing. Has been for months, I've posted it before. I can't believe some bike nut from Davis hasn't gone for it.

More purple! Still love that chain protector. $250
Sekine 10 speed road bike

A bit high for this model but it's in nice shape with some nice stuff. $290
Fuji S12-S, 1981 vintage, 18 speed road bike

Confused by this one. SR bike coated in 600? Isn't that a conflict of interest? $250
Suntour SR Gran Course Roadbike

Bridgestones, $275 and $285
RB-2, tangy! Bridgestone Road Bike w/lock & lights
500, "Performance for the super contenders!" Bridgestone 500 road bike 1980's vintage, great shape !
I notice the second one has Bridgestone decals or printing on the brakes. Huh.

Ha! I tried to get a hold of him too. Never heard back. Nice to have my curiosity satisfied, though I was sure it was too good to be true.

Me: "I'm interested in checking out your bike, but I'm kinda confused by the disconnect between your description and the photo. Do you have a Peugeot for sale?"

Him: "Yeah, I just grabbed that photo because it looked about the same year and color. We haven't taken any pics yet. But we did just put a fresh coat of white paint on it." ("Oh good lord, no!" I'm thinking to myself)

Me: "So, do you know what year of a Peugeot it is?"

Him: "It's a 1972."

So I arrange to go look at it, with visions and hopes in my head that it's something like this:

https://www.bikeforums.net/13149579-post377.html

I get there, and he has the bike out in front of the garage. YIKES! With the exception of the wheels and tires, everything has been rattle-canned white. And I mean even the downtube shifters and derailleurs. But even so, I can tell that this is CLEARLY not a 1972 Peugeot anything. More like maybe a 70s Sears Free Spirit, if even that.

Even still, I gently explain to him that you shouldn't paint over any bike, as someone like me, who is a collector/restorer, is looking for certain defining headbadges, tubing stickers, etc. He turns the bike over and shows me the serial number, asking if he might be able to find any info on the internet based on that. I explain that you need more than a number for that, such as the make and model.

Long story short, I left without the bike. He asked if there was somewhere he might be able to donate it, and I pointed him to the local recycle/refurbish bike shop here in town.

Like they say, if it's too good to be true, it probably isn't. Oh well, it was only a 5 minute drive from home.

that's too bad especially if it had been a Peugeot unless the thing was badly rusted and he just covered it all up. but that's just plain weird.

I wonder how many people have contacted him at this point. You'd think he'd take the ad down.

Price dropped on this one since it first appeared.

Rare Bridgestone XO-2

Rare Bridgestone XO-2 - $325 (Midlothian)

make / manufacturer: Bridgestone
model name / number: X0-2

Bridgestone X0-2 Hybrid bike. Super rare and super collectible. This one is in good shape for its age. Everything works as it should. Would be a great restoration project for someone who wants to make it like new again, or ride it like it is--it rides fantastic. Medium frame.

Dang, looks to be my size, but all the way across the country! But then, buying it would cut into my savings for a Rivendell.

Lots of SR's show up on the Cali Craigslists. That's where they were sold. Too bad I'm on the East coast!

Doesn't look like it's moving anytime soon. Let me know if you need help when you decide to get it (nudge). It can be your Pre-vendell.

'82 Vintage Racing Road Bike TREK 736/730 59cm "Superbe Pro"

https:
//eugene.craigslist.org/bik/5761664399.html

82 Vintage Racing Road Bike TREK 736/730 59cm "Superbe Pro" - $500 (Eugene, OR)
Made in Waterloo Wisconsin! Rides and looks like it did almost 25 years ago. A true classic and restoration complete. Have to see and ride to appreciate. Reynolds 531 steel with cinelli bottom bracket and campy drops this was one of treks top of the line road bikes with SUNTOUR Superbe componentry. This would be an awesome daily rider for the right person who appreciates the high quality of an older trek. Vintage Turbo saddle not included in this sale. Thx!

Oooh, that's a beauty, and not too far down the road from me, too. Good thing it's too big for me, I already have a 1983 Trek 760, and I'm already working on a deal to get a Bridgestone XO-2.

Even though I don't need it, I'd probably still buy this if it were closer. 1995+ 500 series. Can't narrow it down further using the one photo.

Univea Alpina (Milaca, MN) - $25

Bicycle

Mountain bike
Stored indoors all of its life.
Works well, just not wanted anymore.
Shimano shifters work, just needs a little adjustment for gears on the ends.
Front tire newer, rear tire still ok.

Oh you dog! I emailed the guy too, offered to help him find a bike shop to ship. He was kind enough to answer saying he had a couple of local lowball offers (really, lower than that?) and a couple more out of state offers. Glad she went to a good home!
