I couldn't tell you what this bike is, but it's clean and it appears to have a ton of great 80's MTB parts on it, including Suntour XC Sport shifting and some of those oval pedals. There is a frame tubing decal but I can't make it out, otherwise it's debadged. Sixty bucks.

Reading up, I guess this group was 1986 only and replaced by XC Sport 7000 with indexing in 1987

Beautiful indeed, I wasn't aware the Carlton brake hoods, I have a pair, were ever in black... but these don't really look like they were painted. Interesting, I haven't seen that before.

Maybe. Something new every day.

Per the Rivendell and up their for 2 months?

Columbus has proven to be at times, a very good market.

Here's one, one does not see often, a Roger Riviere Gitane. Unique.

Roger Riviere bikes

"Roger Riviere bicycles:

...were made by Gitane, Rogers last major sponsor during his cycling career. Roger Riviere had an unfortunate accident during the Giro where he rode off the roadway and down an embankment suffering severe injuries to his back causing paralysis. The Riviere line of bikes had bicycles extending from low end to some high end models which were showcased at the bike shows in the 70s. The high end models featured chrome lugs. Other bicycles were bike boom bicycles mostly with foil seat tube stickers and handmade in France stickers. Most of these bicycles featured chrome tipped forks and chrome fork crown. The 70s era bike boom Riviere’s used cottered Aduprat crank sets, Simplex components, 27 inch wheel sets, and CLB brakes. The Roger Riviere bicycles disappeared around the late 70s. "

Vintage Roger Riviere by Gitane

"Vintage Roger Riviere 10 speed. Hand built by Gitane in France. Good condition. Early 70's I think. Just enough of an oddity to be in your collection. Asking $200.00. "

So, probably a bike boom product, not bad all the same.

Zach M?s Roger Riviere Mixte | Old Ten Speed Gallery

So, the CL bike likely has a Cotterless Crank like the Old Ten Speed bike. Very well preserved too.

For me, I know, once I get a bike, often the decals go. Maybe a bike for a real collector.

$400 for a Merlin Titanium bike with Dura Ace? I haven't seen a better deal than this in this forum. This is worth over a grand. Somebody should be running to grab this. I owned a Litespeed titanium some time ago. Probably the best ride I've ever experienced.

I agree, I would be running over to get this bike, and it's an average rider sized bike...meaning most of you will fit it.

It's abut two hours away from me and I have no time in the next couple of days taking care of a 6 year old and 9 month old. If it's there at the end of the week I'm all over it. But I don't see it lasting that long.

Minneapolis, $140

French Hosteler frame + extras

"This is a perfect project bike for someone who wants a french frame without the headache of finding a bottom bracket. Gorgeous 58cm lugged Hosteler frame and fork, includes a Velo Orange Grand Cru bottom bracket, and Velo Orange porteur style handle bars. Both the bottom bracket and handlebars are brand new!

Includes everything shown in the pictures. This is priced to sell, so please no haggling. I'm happy to answer questions, but I don't have time to discuss the minutia of french bicycles. Not interested in splitting this up, just want to sell it."

This is lovely, you factor in the Velo Orange handlebars and bottom bracket, it must be around half of the price of $140. This might really fix up nice.

Pin striping on these are nice too.

One of these sky blue jobs was on sale near me, but a tiny bit too big, 34" stand over, so this looks more accommodating.

Looks like it's not far from the Light Rail stops to downtown, should that interest anyone, one might ask the seller to meet them or something.

We already have one Hosteler, women's, SIS, rides like a dream and fairly light even if it is hi-ten.
