I saw that too, but I didn't want to be "that guy." Top tube has dents as well. Certainly not worth $325

Yeah, looked a bit bent to me as well, but I didn't notice until I poked the Submit button. Definitely makes it less appealing. A slightly bent fork is no big deal, but the odds of problems in the main triangle are increased.

And this Bianchi in Dallas for $900 isn't a bad deal, even though it needs cables and the seller has erroneously listed the Zonda wheels as Shamals....I think this is a Croce D'Aune group, anyone know for sure?

Fujis of that era are great bikes. This particular model, a 1987 by the catalog (http://www.classicfuji.com/Roubaix_1987_Page.htm), has a Shimano 105 groupset, quad-butted VaLite frame, and weighs 23.1 lbs.

What are you waiting for, Devildog? Move!

Pre WWII Mens Iver Johnson

Pre WWII Mens Iver Johnson

re-WWII men's Iver Johnson bicycle, fair condition but complete and actually rideable.

Iver Johnson was a well respected manufacturer of high quality bicycles and firearms that ceased production at the beginning of WWII. The headbadge and glass reflector in the rear fender are by themselves "collectable."

This bike has been repainted at least once. It also appears the frame was repaired (rewelded) around the bottom bracket (see photo).

I first noticed this seller when he sold an Arabesque for peanuts recently, he appears to be selling off a large collection of bikes for someone who is close to my size. I think his flat rate of $150 for shipping is what keeps people from bidding....were I local, I'd be in some trouble....

Raleigh Marathon Mixte - $250 (PDX)

Vintage Raleigh Marathon Mixte - $250 (Southwest PDX)

https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/bik/5935010556.html

This is a mid-80s Raleigh Marathon Mixte Bicycle. The 2x6 gearing is decently low for hills. The seat-tube is only 19 inches, but the seat post is quite long, and the virtual top tube is about 21 inches. I'm about 5'6'', and my preferred bike size is about 21 inches, so this bike fit me pretty well. However, if you are shorter or taller, this bike might also fit you with a different handlebar set up.

I bought this bike several years ago when I first started getting into biking as an adult. I didn't really know what I wanted or needed, but was hoping for something versatile. I liked the looks of this bike, so I took a risk and bought it.

This ended up being my do-everything bike for a couple of years. I rode it to the store, to meetings, and even a few 50ish mile charity rides. I was a nervous rider at first -- scared of cars, hills, speed -- and I had never used drop bars before. This bike gave me confidence with all of it. It always felt stable and comfortable, and my skills grew with this bike.

As a learned more about what I wanted and needed in a bike, I realized that for longer, faster rides, I wanted a lighter road bike. For transportation, I prefer something more upright. So, as my bike stable grew, the Raleigh became a back-up bike -- a great last-minute alternative if another bike had a mechanical issue, but, sadly, no longer my favorite. I pulled it out and rode it occasionally for fun because I just liked riding it, but it wasn't the go-to bike anymore.

When I bought this bike, most of the components were original and looked barely used. Even the Raleigh stickers on the rims are intact. At some point I changed out the brake cables and housing. I appreciated the original "suicide" levers for the fact that I could brake from just about anywhere on the handlebars, but, as the name suggests, they have a reputation for failing so I replaced them with modern Tektro levers -- both aero levers and cross-style interrupter levers. I found these cream colored tires a year or two ago, and put them on, but they haven't really seen much use. Otherwise, most of the parts are the original Raleigh-branded components. Durable and serviceable.

The bike comes with the original Pletscher rack (not fancy, but the little rat-trap spring is handy), a vintage touring saddle (again, not fancy) with bag loops to hold the little green bag that I always thought went nicely with the blue-green paint. The rack and the suicide brake levers are not currently attached, as you can see in the photos, but they will come with the bike.
