"This Miyata bike was handmade in Japan from Japanese gun metal."

Oh man, that's hilarious! I suppose, if it has the splined tubing, that could be mistaken for rifling...

Yeah, I look at that, and in my head I hear: TING!

You must be a fellow Clydesdale, huh? Give me 36 spokes and double wall rims every time.

To be fair, Miyata did get their start making metal tubes for guns.

So you made me google it... Wikipedia says, " Eisuke's son, Eitarō, manufactured the first Miyata prototype bicycle in 1890, using rifle barrels produced at the family's factory."

Ya learn something new every day...

Haha, you're welcome.

Their logo is actually a cross section of a rifle barrel not a cog as I initially thought.

People worry too much. I've abused a few sets of low spoke count wheels, even when I weighed 230#. Never an issue.

Very clean 80s Eddy Merckx with Super Record

Vintage Rare Eddy Merckx Racing Bike Special Edition Molteni Color | eBay

You are bidding on a vintage and rare Eddy Merckx Racing Bike from the 1980s. This is a special edition bike with the Molteni Team Colors; famous for many of Eddy Merckx international wins in the late 1960s and early 1970s, with Eddy Merckx engravings on the frame and some components and decals commemorating Eddy Merckx career victories and accomplishments.
$900 starting big with no reserve.

Background: The bike was purchased in France in 1987; I am the original owner. The bike was ridden only a few times in the late 80s and is in excellent condition.

Im assuming that most people interested in this racing bike would know what they are looking at. Please look at the pictures carefully and feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like me to post additional close-up pictures.

Overview of Components:
Campagnolo Super Record Group set; brakes, front and back derailleur (10 Speeds), shifters, crankset, seat post, hubs etc. C Record pedals.
Mavic GP-4 tubular rims with sew-up tires.

Dimensions:
Seat Tube: 22"
Top Tube: 22"
Head Tube: 5-1/2"
Stand Over: 31-1/2"

Note: This is a vintage bike and collectable. The bike has not been ridden since the late 1980s. Although there are a few small paint nicks, this bike is in overall excellent condition. I do not expect the tires to hold air as they are original from the 1980s as well. There are no dents and the frame is not bent; it has never been in an accident.

You've been lucky. I've had spokes break a number of times, and I only weigh ~220#.

Of course, most of the wheels I ride on are vintage, so I'm sure aging is a factor. I am beginning to build more of my own wheels now, so that may change. 32-spoke seems to be quite common, and I've got one set to build this winter. But 20 spokes? That's a bit of a stretch, (pun intended).

I looked at that and I was wondering if it's a repaint. Also wondering if the fork is original to that bike as I thought that version of the bike would have a flat fork crown.

Dougbloch, does your Peugeot frame have the braze-ons for rack, pump and generator? If not, it would be a shame to strip the parts from this one. Just my opinion.
Good point, thanks! I don't think so... I will have to take a look.

56cm Bianchi Reparto Corse road bike w/full Campagnolo + Chris King - $800 (Allston)

make / manufacturer: Bianchi
Up for grabs is my Reparto Corse (handbuilt frame in Italy, not Taiwan)w/Columbus SBX tubing and Carbon fork with full 9 speed Campy group Chorus shifters, monoplaner brakes, Daytona cranks + derailleurs. Shifting is extremely crisp and braking power is awesome with the monoplaners. There is also a set of Mavic Cosmic deep dish wheels with a Campy cassette on them, black threadless Chris King headset, 3TTT Ergo Power bars. I will also include the Carbon Look pedals if you'd like. Selling because it is too small for me and I just got a bigger bike.

The frame measures:

56cm TT
55cm ST c-c
56cm ST c-t

Thanks!

Not an exotic but quaint, and that's almost as good. I had a Batavus road bike so am partial to the brand. Looks like this one has a 3-speed CB. Probably overpriced but it includes the groovy "baby ejector" seat.

Batavus Vintage Dutch Bike

Batavus Vintage Dutch Bike - $600 (Forest Hill)

Amazing vintage dutch bike. Has 3 speed internal hub, rear rack, fenders and so much more. All original from 1980. Made in Holland. Classic rare city bike in mint condition.
