Have had some communications with the seller of the Zunow. Very nice guy. Took the listing down because he was disappointed in the level of interest and number/amount of bids. Not sure what he was expecting for the sale, but he mentioned that bare frames were selling for $2500-3500, and the high bid on his complete at that point was $480. Clearly he's not under any pressure to sell, but I haven't seen any Hummingbirds going for that kind of money, either. If anyone has a data point other than eBay listings and completed sales to share, feel free to PM me with details.

he is just being unrealistic on the value. They are rare and cool so you aren't going to pick one up for peanuts, but you can get them for way under 2500! more like 1200. (or you can get a beat up one like mine for less! )

there is some distance between a hummingbird and a Z-1. the Z-1 was the top of the line handmade, while the hummingbird was the production level offering (but still excellent)
there can be confusion as some of the higher end models have the same paint as the hummingbird..

Though in comparison of the Z1 and Hummingbird, there's significant differences. From what I understand the Hummingbird was not directly in house, rather outsourced. The Hummingbird was more of a volume produced model. That aside, the Z1 has the lost wax casted lugs and exotic proprietary Zunow tubing made by Tange.

Tires, chain and bar tape were replaced. Bike was stored for a loooong time in a Vermont basement. Bike has been cleaned, bearings and BB repacked. I have ridden this 3 times, nice ride, too big for me. Email with subject 1971 Gitane only will gain my attention. If the ad is up the bike is available, don't expect a response to those inquiries either. Price dropped $100, last buyer vanished. Give this nice complete example of 1970's French cycling a home.

If you really want it, you may want to see if someone would facilitate the transaction for you. That's priced fairly enough that even with the shipping cost, it still works out well IMO.
