If any of you tall guys out there live close enough to Portland, OR and fancy proper vintage Treks, there is a 64cm 1983 Trek 970 frameset for sale at Community Cycling Center for just $225. I was just there this weekend. Second only to the heat treated 531-tubed 170 model above it (but made with Columbus tubing), made for one year only, and adorned with Super Record when built.
No pictures, though the red did look a little darker than the brochure and other pictures. Could have been a repaint, but the TREK labels/banners looked in great shape. The bike was hanging from their tall ceiling. Geometry is very close to my later, much less rare 560. Of course, with a very rare frameset in my size (even rarer), I am naturally attracted to it. Decisions (with no room to spare)...decisiions...

Every time I go there it seems a few people do.. @jyl had a regular table reserved until he decided to go back to gainful employment.
Yep!
Next time you stop in town, be like @nlerner and let us know! Many of us have "visitor bikes", if you can hang around on a weekend, you could get a ride in. If you go to Velocult and Sky (the proprietor) is around, see if you can get the local tour of the basement.
I think that's actually a picture of Velocult, not the Portland Community Cycling Center.
