Hey, thanks for the info. I know about the Treks. I've been studying the Motos, and I know about the Grand Sport - almost bought one that was white with blue stripes... there is a Grand Touring that was built with Vitus 172 (?), but the other Grand Tourings are basically gaspipe from what I've read.

I've actually got an early Miyata 1000 (non-splined) in a box that was brush-painted by the PO. All the braze-ons and holes are gummed up and it will require a complete stripping before I know what I have there. Next winter's project...

I really do have all the bikes I need... But there are so many more that I want!
A common illness that we spread here.

After 1975, all the Grand Tourings were some variation of Vitus tubing.

Torpado, no decals, headbadge, seller presents it as a project. Respray? Good looking regardless, nice components.

I guess this is probably more interesting than desirable (but I didn't think it qualified for the Wacky thread). A Terry Symmetry frame with a 24" BREW fork

I wasn't actually comparing the TK - I was just poking Mr. Snake with a stick...

Thanks for all the info, guys. The reason I want a 531 frame with relaxed angles is so I can build it into a nice touring roadster. But since I've already done that with my Raysport Turismo, I really don't need an International. I sure do like those Nervex lugs though.

@Vintage_Cyclist - Thanks for the info on the Vitus Grand Tourings. Now I can narrow my search for a frame to replace that gaspipe Gitane on my "French Bike". She's a right hefty old beast...

I hope you haven't gone out yet.

I was at work when I saw the ad. So, I asked the seller to email some pics. The pics showed two Varsities. One very large, the other was a medium (I think).
Ask the seller to email you the pics, before heading there.

She already responded...said the red bike on CL was sold, but she had others. So I asked her for pics, and she sent me a collection of mixtes. Decent shape...but not a $50 Paramount

For the money, get a Competition. Look for a '73 or '74 with the Capella lugs. You should be able to pick one up for a couple hundred, complete, with an attentive eye. The Nervex get used a lot by various manufacturers from the 50s through the late 70s, so aren't very distinctive, IMO.

If you can find one of those early 60's Carltons with the Carlton lugs (Capellas were one type), those are interesting looking and not common. All those bikes will have relatively slack angles and take a fatter-ish tire.

I also like Prugnat and Bocama triple-windowed lugs. Both get used a fair bit, but for some reason don't grate on my eye like the Nervex.

Perhaps the Paramount was never really for sale, as the picture used in the ad is of a bike that was purchased (incidentally for $50 as well) in San Diego a few years ago.

Granted, she could have been selling that same bike but using previous owner's pic...

I would have to say that red Paramount was sold many years ago.

When I see nice bikes at ridiculous prices on CL, I always start with a Google image search.

That one looks really nice, pretty sure it's a 1983, though. I'm keeping my eyes open for an 84-85 Voyageur SP in 23". Here's a 1982 Voyageur SP in Grand Rapids:

Need facilitator for Raleigh, NC

Contacted seller but he won't ship. Tried to take away all the reasons why. I can send him a FedEx label, easy to ship a frame, can Paypal or transfer money or even send USPS money order he can cash at any post office. Says he had prior bad experience.

Would love it if someone could go by and get the bike. Then if you could drop it off at a FedEx office to pack and ship.

If you can offer assistance let me know. I need it for a fixed gear project.
