Vintage Bottecchia Campagnolo C-Record Delta SLX - Nice! - $2250 (Wakefield)

condition: excellent
Late 80's Bottecchia C-Record Columbus SLX for sale. Asking $2,250.

I purchased a bike very similar to that after it was posted in this forum. My price was less than half this seller's asking price. Where do I get the handlebar wrap that he is using?

Here's mine:

I believe that was done by using two colors of Bennoto type tape, you know that thin plastic stuff, at the same time. Pretty bikes

Trek 420 Touring Bike- 56cm Chromolly Frame Deore Sport LX Touring - $350 (Newton)

© craigslist - Map data © OpenStreetMap
(google map)

condition: excellent
make / manufacturer: Trek
model name / number: 420
size / dimensions: 56cm
Bench built with silver solder the old Trek lugged chromoly frames were extremely well built and Trek took such pride in their frames they cast the seat stay lugs and rear dropouts with their name. The frame is made from True-temper chromoly similar to Reynolds 501 touring tubesets. The drive train is Shimano Sport LX designed for touring. It accepts low gearing and large cassettes for pulling long hills carrying a load that can compensate for weak spring legs. The shifting is 27 speed indexed or friction. The crank has an extremely small granny for hills. The bike has been lightly used including centuries and casual use. The tires are excellent. This bike could last a lifetime. The price is firm. If the T is easier I can meet you at Riverside and you can ride it home. (No bikes on the green line D train). Please leave a number I can text or call.

I've noticed a couple of Trek 620's on PDX CL that look like they're about your size. The prices are a bit high, but things don't seem to be moving on there recently so maybe you could talk them down.

1980, wow, first year, I believe. Got any pics of that one? I'm pretty dead-set on my target years, but then I saw the colors for 1980: Scarlet Flame, Black Sable, Chrome. Which is yours?

I've seen those PDX 620s, both at $500:

https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/bik/6100749340.html
https://portland.craigslist.org/grg/bik/6099443176.html

I'm not opposed to paying $500 for a 620, it's certainly a bike I'd keep, in my size, and they are both my size. Last fall I bought a 620 for my wife for $300, though. It's crazy watching the price for early 80s Treks rise; people are definitely getting that they are very well made, desirable bikes.

Yeah, it's a really good looking one. Super clean too. I offered the seller $320 back in February, when he was asking $350, and he turned it down. I don't know how much this thing is worth, really. I may have another crack at it if it hangs around another couple months.

Gosh darn, if I didn't just say to myself how I'd love try one of these since I'm in love with my 614. Would you or your friend be interested in shipping to Detroit? Also, may I have the serial number? I'd like to try and date the frame.

Mine is Scarlet Flame. I'm not entirely sure it's safe to ride, though I have ridden it. It's the one that had bent tubes from a front end crash. Gugie straightened the fork and rolled out the the bends in the top and down tubes a bit. The head tube angle is still around 75 degrees. The picture makes it look like it's in better condition than it actually is.

Hey, it passes the 10 ft. test! 1980 is too soon for most models of touring bikes to be really good, they're still missing some of the best features. 1983-1985 really seems to be the sweet spot for lugged steel touring bikes, whether they are from Trek, Schwinn, Miyata, Fuji, etc.
