That doesn't look like it's ever been off of the trainer. Being that it's 45 min. from Portland, I can't believe it isn't gone either.

Tandem - Campy Campagnolo Equipped - Melton -CUSTOM HAND-BUILT bicycle

worth it to look at pic that include tandem in frame jig during build

Racing Tandem - Melton - 1982 - CUSTOM HAND-BUILT bicycle by Olympic Gold Medal Winning Builder, Mike Melton. EXCELLENT riding condition!!

Asking price: $2000.00 ... or best reasonable offer

Captain ST(seat tube) is 23" and the TT(top tube) is 32"

Stoker ST is 21" and the TT is also 32"

Components include: Campagnolo, Cinelli, Phil Wood, Shimano, Mafac, Sakae, Avocet (see photos)

About the builder: Mike Melton (1984 and 1988 Team USA Olympic Gold Medal winning frame / bike builder)...

While in the Navy in Japan during the Vietnam era, Mike Melton studied the work of 3Rensho and returned to Columbia, South Carolina in the early 1970s to set up his frame building business. He was very active in racing (both he and his first wife Debbie) and in frame building in the southeast. Mike's easy manner and charm made friends in all cycling circles.

In 1979 he collaborated with Dave Moulton in building a special batch of ill fated aero steel (among the earliest) for the USA National Team. (details in Dave Moulton's blog here.)

While successful at all styles, he soon focused on tandems and shifted his workshop to Delaware, Ohio. Melton's shop received national press when he hired Vietnamese refugees to work in his atelier. That business failed in 1983.

Mike then went to California for a stint with Santana before returning to head up Huffy Corporation's Special Projects Division in the Dayton, Ohio area. There he developed and built advanced bikes to be used by Greg LeMond and the USA team in various forms, including the Olympics in 1984 & 1988.

Seller dropped the BIN price to $360, which includes shipping.

Almost worth it to me, but can't bring myself to bid. The shipping out here including the trainer would be ~$150.

it's Friday! Here are some interesting things on Craigslist... low price point - nothing spectacular but things I'm drawn to. Luckily I don't need (m)any more bikes.

1) Vintage Bridgestone Kabuki - $70 slightly fancy lugs.

2) Bianchi Volpe - $125 Suntour. Never seen one without Shimano.

3) Aerowind - $125 that is some seriously "aero" tubing.

4) Panasonic Sport Commuter $135 that's really a Centurion Sport DLX.

5) Vintage Ross HI-Tech $126 posting because handlebars.

I like that Volpe at that price. Easy to date based on the bad early-90s graphics. Probably a Suntour cassette hub but I'd still buy it if it was closer to home.

Saw these as well.

The XO-1 looked groovy until I looked at the front fork crown and the head tube.

No thanks.

I'd consider that to a serious issue. Some of that pitting is pretty deep. Certainly not "superficial".
