I am new to vintage bikes but I've heard good things about vintage Raleigh's. Does anyone who is familiar, have an opinion on the bike in this listing?

Had to break up the URL since I haven't 10 posts yet.

hartford. craigslist .org/ bik/6158964873.html

Thanks in advance!

That's a good price for a Sports. It looks to be complete and in fairly good condition. I have three of them and they cost me more and less than $75 so I'd say that's about average.

That seat will have to go, of course. You'll spend plenty more for a proper Brooks saddle once you have the bike.

It'll never end.

That seller is asking a fair price for that bike, if it is serviceable. And remember, these Raleigh 3-Speeds were designed to be everyday transportation - so once you get it dialed in, very little can go wrong.

Your best resource on the bike forums for this is a thread in C&V called "For the love of English 3-Speeds". A bike like that will be your ticket to a whole new dimension in cycling.

I'll check out that thread and I'm going to take a look at the bike tomorrow morning. Appreciate everyone's help on this! Thanks!

I think $75 for that Sports is high, given the apparent condition. If you can get it down a bit, then maybe.

Edit: well, if that's all dust and dirt on the fenders and rims, then maybe it's OK. I wouldn't pay $75 for it if that's all rust on there though. I'd want something nicer as a base from which to work.

$255 Sirrus...don't know about that price, but the frame looks to be in pretty good shape.

Red Specialized Sirrus. Early 90s vintage. Chromoly 52.5cm(ctr-top of seat tube), Suntour Blaze and Shimano RSX 21 speed, downtube shifters, quick release aluminum wheels. Received complete tune-up including wheel truing from Proteus Cycles. Hasn't been ridden since its tune-up. Ready for your summer riding!

Yes, I think it is a bit earlier than mid 80s. It looks like it has the engraved headbadge. I'm sure it would clean up nice. Too bad it is too small for me, or I'd have it.

If it's near to you, you should buy it anyway. That would make great trading fodder for something really special in your size.

Vintage Bianchi limited bike - $199 (Haverhill)

condition: excellent
make / manufacturer: Bianchi
model name / number: Limited
Vintage bianchi bike in good shape. Shimano 600 components. All original. Pretty tall bike, stand over height is just over 32inches. I rode it around after pulling it out of the garage and it worked as expected, tires hold air, but rear leaks slowly. I wouldn't take it out on a busy street without going over it yourself, but it seems to be in great shape. Delivery to public transportation available with deposit.

199 text or email.

Looks like a mid-80s 5nn or 6nn frame. That bottom bracket casting and seat lug were used on the mid-level frames. I see a Reynolds tubing decal, but can't quite make out whether its 501 tubing (5nn frame) or 531 tubing (6nn frame). Seller doesn't tell us where the "bend" is, but likely head tube/down tube collision damage.

We never sold many of the yellow ones but the '88/89 Limiteds were great bikes. This oine looks to have seen little use.
