An English Grail

1974 Raleigh International frameset, 24-1/2 inch - $75 (Boonsboro)

"24-1/2 inch frame. Measures 60cm center to center, 62cm center to top. Top tube measures 56cm. Rear spacing is 125 mm. This repaint has a few flaw but should be serviceable. Comes with Campagnola headset and bottom bracket cable guide, and simplex seatpost binder bolt.

Also consider trade for similar quality frame in 23" (56-58cm) frame size"

https://lynchburg.craigslist.org/bik...385685807.html

(We've already got one. "Oh yes, it's ver' naahs".)

Hmm, what's going on with that chain stay? Almost looks like tape under there.

Also can anyone ID it beyond "60's era Bianchi"? (Which is more than the Craigslist ad said.)

Looks like late '60's/early '70's Rekord. Rims don't look original to the bike though.

looks great! I've been shying away from lugged steel recently so I dig the welds. Plus the option to add in down tube shifters

But I'm broke, and have a nasty tooth/jaw ache, and I'm busy and it's too far and a whole litany of other reasons...
I'd rather someone here pick this up, (and perhaps see them work their magic on it), than it become flipper fodder.
Maybe it'll get a good home, and bring one of you happiness?

(Disclaimers: I don't know the seller. I felt the same way about that $35 DX5000 in Myrtle Beach. I'm not touting my altruism, merely mentioning it as I've observed many members here evidence it, and that's what makes this board more like a community, and keeps me coming back. Thanks.)

Why not ask the seller to drop it off at a Winston-Salem LBS to disassemble and package for bikeflights. Pay the LBS for bike, breakdown, and shipping. Worked for me a few times.

If that fit, I'd be screaming for a facilitator. MAX and Grandis? That's just a winning combo.

I twisted his arm a bit and he changed it. As long as it doesn't get too crazy, I'll be unboxing it in a few weeks.

I told him to quote from bike flights. I'm guess he went through fed ex or ups with the ebay estimate.

wow! shows 301.88 for me. yup fed ex. well, that will keep the bidding down. lol

Clean vinti mtn. bike. Believe second from top-O-line by Raleigh. Has the better Suntour XC sport shift group vs. the finicky Mountech. $200

https://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/b...386939000.html

1986 Raleigh Elkhorn - The Midlands Mountaineer

One of the earlier mountain bikes and a bit rare round these parts, this 1986 Raleigh Elkhorn has a triple-butted cro-mo 21" frame, on the tall side but not huge. 18 speeds, Suntour XC Sport derailleurs and power shifters, Sakae triple crankset, cantilever brakes, and the coolest pedals and bullmoose handlebar stem ever made. 26" x 2.00" gumwall tires. All original so far as I can tell, and everything works as it should, and well. Comes with rear rack and pannier, bottle cage, and lights.

No knowledge of the brand but its lower end. I would take it for that price and if local. Dig the Huret Svelto shift stuff, TA bottle cage, saddle and those pedals look cool.
