Maybe I can get the seller of this Colnago to ship via BikeFlights. That shipping quote in the auction is excessive.

The unfortunate part is that I also picked up two other bikes locally yesterday.
I agree about trying to get shipping via Bikeflights, you should easily be able to get it below $110. If Seller can pack it correctly, or drop it off at LBS for packing, you can then arrange shipping yourself and save. Remember that some sellers will pad their shipping costs so they (and ebay) can make some additional profit off of that.

I am a happy touring bike owner with my Miyata 610, but if I am thinking correctly, $320 for a vintage (or close?) Specialized Sequoia Touring in a Big Hoss 64cm size, ready to ride, is a fantastic deal. 700c wheels with canti brakes, big tires, low-rider fork mounts, and three bottle cage mounts. This looks to be an excellent rig for us tall guys. It looks like some genius took off the top tube cable guides, so there is some paint damage + the crude looking cable taping. Some Dia Compe cable clamps should fix that right up.

I’d be sure to check for rust and make sure the seat post and stem are moving being an island bike, but that is pretty nice.

Are you referring to the seller, or the bike?

Don't they teach English grammar in schools anymore?

I'm dealing with a really nice seller. Shipping costs will be "around $100" thru Bikeflights. All's good.

Bikeflights is getting a lot of well deserved free advertising in this Forum.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest this might really be a Specialized Expedition that has been repainted and mislabeled, or just had original, damaged labels replaced with the wrong model label. This is an early 80s model, due to no "S" pantograph on the top of the seatstays or fork. Sequoias did not have cantilever brakes, mid-fork rack mounts or rear brake stops on the frame -- Expeditions did. Perhaps it was repainted at the same time the cable guides were removed.

Interesting. So would that mean the Expedition is a level up?

More like a step sideways. The Sequoia is more of a sport touring/all arounder, while the Expedition is a full-out tourer.

Pretty cool old Gitane tandem

https://madison.craigslist.org/bik/d...403619963.html

"Vintage '60s Gitane touring tandem bike 59/51cm Mafac CLB 650B - $300

60s Gitane Touring tandem, handbuilt frame, Simplex derailleurs, Pivo stem, Mafac levers, CLB caliper brakes, unbranded rear drum brake, steel 650B x 35 wheels, Gitane rear rack. 59cm captain seat tube, 51cm stoker seat tube (both c-to-t). Will need new tires/tubes/chains/cables and a serious tune-up, but it's all there and has no obvious major defects other than rust and dirt.

I am interested in full or partial trades for interesting vintage bike parts (less interested in frames or wheelsets). Please leave phone number."

Not sure if this is a fair price but you don't see a lot of these. Campaq bar ends. May be a 25" frame, long head tube.

Nice find!

And then there's this choice and pretty bike from England.

https://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/b...398577614.html

A vintage Bob Jackson lightweight, made in England road bike with Reynolds 531 tubing. Taken on different bike trips to Maine, New Brunswick, Montreal, and Europe, that included a stop in Leeds, England to meet Mr. Robert Jackson, himself. 23 1/2" down tube, 22" top tube. In excellent condition with full Campagnolo components: brakes, cranks, post tubes, hubs, and headset/bottom bracket, including an endcap handlebar shifter. Brooks saddle and Cinelli handbars and stem, 700C tires with Presta valves and real leather tennis grip. A few small scratches but nothing significant that would detract from a classic Bob Jackson paint job.

$1250. John in Warrenville.

I see. Thank you! It seems a bit like Miyata with their 1000 (full touring) and 610 (sport touring).

"Elite" Schwinn Paramount - $525

The fork looks to be replaced by a nice Tange Prestige-tubed unit with proper rake. Frame looks original, though no show stopper as far as condition goes.

Components are fairly pedestrian by Paramount standards, but they are at least decent, with a few nice pieces in there for good measure.

No idea on the value of a bike like this. Perhaps the frame itself is worth it on rarity alone? Educate me, Schwinn people!

1984 Trek 610 - 25.5"

A lot of bike and a lot of Reynolds 531 tubing for $300. Condition looks good, just needs a good cleaning and polishing if you want to brighten it up.

Non-drive side photo for your viewing pleasure:
