This thing rules. Kind of sucks he wants to sell the frame without the fork, doesn't make a lot of sense.

Sure it does...he wants to keep the fork

It's a cool bike, but he's in dream land on price. I do think that's the first ti MTB fork I've seen as a builder option.

Beautiful bike. It's too bad those 70's Treks never pop up in the Northeast.

No idea on the value of a bike like this. Perhaps the frame itself is worth it on rarity alone? Educate me, Schwinn people!

If I recall correctly, that paramount is all the right stuff great bike everything... but the knock is that it was made in Japan. The make up of it is the same as the USA manufacturing, Columbus SL SLX? Lugs all the same. These were put together with stock leftovers from Waterford plant after Schwinn was sold.

Certainly there must be a very good reason for this. I'll let you fill in the blanks, but these two holes in the front of my legs are all that's left of my knees after taking a Biopace-equipped bike for a test ride around the block.

In deciding whether to keep the Biopace crank on this bike, I went to the Oracle Himself: https://www.sheldonbrown.com/biopace.html

He is saying the opposite here; that B-P is actually easier on the knees than a round chainring. Since I have knee problems already, I guess I'm going to ride this the way it is for a while and see what happens.

Overpriced, but I thought I'd post it here since I know there's a lot of demand for these bikes. Especially when in such good condition. I'm in love with the headbadge
1973 Schwinn World Voyageur, 23" frame size, $450.

https://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/...400132117.html

Schwinn World Voyager 1973

This model was made in only two sizes. This is the 23" size (center of spindle to top of seat mast) made with chrome moly double butted Panasonic tubes. The entire frame is chrome underneath the factory "Kool Orange" paint.

This is Schwinn's first bicycle made in Japan by their top manufacturer, Panasonic. Panasonic went over board building this for Schwinn so that they could win future contracts. Many consider this to be equal or better than the Paramount in 1973.

Schwinn equipped the bike with first generation Dura Ace drivetrain. There is a skip tooth five speed cog with a chrome plate behind it. The wheels are 27" with Shimano "333" hubs and new Panaracer tires. New cables for shifters and brakes, new handlebar wrap, brake pads, tires and tubes. Everything functions great and has been recently overhauled.

The bike is really fun to ride!

If that finish is original that's an '84 Waterford like mine, made in the USA. Columbus tubing varied by frame type (touring, racing, etc.) and size, I believe. Schwinn was sold in the late '80s or early '90s.

Beautiful (and rare) Paramount! From my research, by 1984, Paramounts were well into the Waterford era and were indeed built with Columbus SL and SP. The earlier Waterford examples were 531.

Wouldn't be hard to engage a facilitator in OC, get it bought, and taken to a LBS who can pack it, then ship to you via Bikeflights. Probably add another $150-170 or so to the price. bike location is about 25 min. Away and I think the BF member who posted also lives nearby.

I guess thats true but it's probably better if I don't get any more bikes for right now. I have a few projects that need to get done first and I just picked up a Trek 660 the other day.

FAT CHANCE TITANIUM: Interesting that shot of the famous bulleted stay cap at the rear dropout. There's a video of them turning the stay on a kind of a lathe at FC, sort of squeezing the steel down to a point. The ti is of course much less malleable and it looks like the bullet cap is welded on as a separate piece.

Rare 1993 Fat Chance Medium early version of their famed Fat TI Selling Bare Frame ONLY-No Fork or other parts. If Interested in Complete Bike message me . Measures 17 " C-C ST , 18" c-Top & 22" TT Pics show Frame with other parts as well as fully built just for reference ONLY Frame has low miles no dent or dings , Decals are original and show some wear , frame has some minor scratches which are easily removed .Titanium is very easily re finished. If you want to have a frame Last forever Its worth the investment This Frame Cost Over $3000 when new - buy Ti instead of Steel since it never rusts. These frames Cost Twice the price of Steel for a reason. They are the Best riding Fats in existence period. Frame only for $1799 ,Complete Bike $3499[/QUOTE]

This is a very good price for a beautiful bike with nice components. Wheels don't look original. I have a 1989 model which, interestingly, does not have the top tube decals. The striking lugs and lug lines make the bike special. I found mine when it was posted in this forum.
