Even has the original Mylar rim tape on it. Bi-plane fork, slingshot stem. If it was closer, I'd have already bought it.

Here is a Univega Gran Turismo — not in perfect shape, but good enough to be worth the $50 asking price...

At this price, it should really go in the "wacky world" thread, but to be fair it is a best offer listing.
I don't know much about early 8sp Capag Ergopower, wild guess it's the entry level version (think I see Daytona on the front brake) & a TrueTemper tubeset. Nice and clean, ticks a couple of boxes for someone I reckon.
What would happen if a few of us made lowball-ish offers?

I think it is Record. The cranks definitely are. Yes, wildly optimistic, but it is a nice bike.

Not gaspipe, just your basic hi-ten bike boom ten speed. There was one like it at our local co-op but in dark brown. Great head badge and decals on them.

1995 De Bernardi - $500 (Mechanicsburg)

De Bernardi Alle/Veloce, 8 speed road bike. Significant features include a Columbus frame and fork as well as a full original set of Campagnolo Veloce components.

The balance of the parts are comprised of Modolo Q Factor stem and bars, San Marco fluted seatpost and a Mundialita leather saddle. Wheels are built with Campy Hubs and FIR 700c rims.

This bike was completely disassembled and all parts were cleaned and lubricated. The frame is free of rust and dents. Small chips and imperfections in the paint we're touched up and clear coated. The frame was then polished and waxed before the parts were reinstalled. New cable housing and stainless steel cables were installed. The pedals shown in the photos are included in the sale.

This is a rare bicycle that not only will be a great rider but will also attract lots of attention from afficionadoes of fine vintage steel bikes. Price is firm.

I never saw stuff like this when I lived there.

Thanks for the input on the group, this thing's out of my scope. Altho, "wildly optimistic" is putting it nicely. It seems apparent by the text in the listing that the seller doesn't really know anything about bicycles other than what they were told about this bike in particular. I see it all the time when old violins come up for sale & had firsthand experience/disappointment while researching the value of some things in my late father's collection.

I mean, I was thinking that $1000-1200 would be a little more down to earth. Or is that still way off?

Did you buy the bike? He had agreed to ship it to me, but ended up selling (I thought) locally. Seems like a nice guy, as far as you can tell from emails.

Since you did post asking for advice, I will tell you that, in my extensive experience with this model--in my opinion--it rides like a wet noodle. Which is great if you're looking for a ride like that, I guess. The flexing frame will also cause you to go notably slower than you would on either a good steel or a more modern carbon fiber or aluminum model as well.
