Uh, 4rings6stars, we could build one of those for you. Wouldn't be original, but the gold C'dale decals with a Black Lightning decal are available, and we have a newly powdercoated black BB ('84) frame in 56cm in stock. Add a set of black Alex rims on Shimano hubs, a new 9 speed SRAM cassette, black TekTro brakes and levers, a Stronglight black needle bearing headset, 5500 series 105 FD/RD, black bar wrap and cable housing, and 99% of the people out there would be unable to tell the difference between an original and a bike that rides, shifts and handles better.

Think of it as a resto-rod, but a bike.

They have then been ridden the 400m or so it takes for one of these bicycle shaped objects to self destruct.

Here ya go....

1980's Black Lightening Cannondale Criterium Bike - $75 (Denver)

I am letting go of my old Cannondale bike from the 80's.

The frame is in exceptional condition.

The bike has a really striking look, but the it could use new tires and an adjustment.

In the last 10 years it's been ridden to and from work for one year (1 mile each way), otherwise it's been stored in the garage.

Wife says it's time to let it go, so here it is.

Size. I'm 6'1" and it fit me great in the 80's. I ride a 58cm now, but I'm also 44. I think it's probably a bit small these days. It could be a medium. I do not see any sizing listed on the bike.

Another black bike for $75, so many bikes, so little time........this one is really tempting!!

Classic English Raleigh Townie - $75 (Boulder)

This was a project bike that I somehow thought I would have the time to restore.
It's a pretty standard English Raleigh 3x3 speed, from the 60's or 70's.
A ton of these bikes were made (but not a ton of them made it into the U.S.) and modern revival designs tend to incorporate many of the stylistic and function aspects of this design.
It is a Sturmey Archer inter 3sp with a 3sp freewheel that is actuated with a separate shifter and derailleur. Rod brakes, upright bars, classic upright, "going to the bakery, farmer's market, butcher, then pub" geometry. I even have a set of brand new Schwalbe tires to fit on it- the tires alone are worth $50 new! (they are still in production and readily available). I think I still have a box of replacement brake pads somewhere as well- got 'em on eBay for $20- also included.
The bike needs a bit of work, but nothing is broken or missing. I had the great idea of totally refurbishing it, removing the surface rust from the chrome bits, so on and so on, but life got in the way of my grand plan.
The bad- the person from whom I got the bike thought it would be "really cool" if she painted half of it gold & green camo. Isn't that cool?! No, it actually sucks. So the right hand side (drive side as some like to say) has a light coat of gold & green spray paint. I began to work on it and had pretty good success with a really fine steel wool in its removal. It really just needs a bit more elbow grease. I left the pic out- not that it's shockingly bad or anything- my wife graduated from CU the other day and I had to delete some photos quickly for the graduation $$ shot, and well, that one went. (honest- I'm not making that up! naturally the pictures I took sucked, but at least I tried.)
The rear derailleur is not stock, but that's okay I guess, as it has been replaced by a better Suntour unit. I can't begin to think what the stock one was, but surely there is a usenet group devoted to these bikes and one could find out.
I am in North Boulder. The best way to reach me is by cell phone- (720) xxx-xxxx, although I typically do not pick up private numbers- if that's you, please leave a message and I'll call you right back. I do also check e-mail several times daily, but I'm not always near a 'puter.
Thanks for looking & sorry about my typical long-winded descriptions- someone once flamed me for that, so I try to "keep it simple, smart-ass" but mostly fail...

Recently tuned just don't use them any longer. New tires w/ slime in tubes. If you are looking for touring bikes to take a trip on these are the ticket. Ladies (blue in color) is built for someone in the range of 5'4" to 5'9". Mens bike (grey in color) is for someone in the range of 5'8 on up to 6'2. They are priced at $100 each.

Speaking of old clunky English 3-speeds, if anyone is in PA, bid on this -- it's at $85 with 17hrs left. Looks to be a '63 Sports Tourist or Superbe with fully enclosed chain ring.

Vintage RALEIGH Bicycle:

Heck, at only $75 for shipping I might bid...it's a good bike.

Rare Raleigh "Joop Zoetemelk" Racer - $100 (Somerville)

This is a limited edition 25" Raleigh "Joop Zoetemelk", US tour-de-france winning rider, racing-style road bike. Tall frame, downtube shifters, original bar wraps and grips and saddle, great looking paint and styling, but I took off the 2nd chain ring so it's a 5 speed right now. It's basically begging for a fixie or single speed conversion. Priced to move, it's too big a frame and I'll just have to face that. Leave your number for speedy response and if you can see this ad, it's still available.

Miyata 914 54cm bike - $200 (Waltham or Pembroke)

Date: 2010-05-10, 12:36PM EDT
Reply to: sale-jjfdp-1733550015@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

For sale here is the Miyata 914 road bike that I bought new from Belmont Wheel Works in 1991 for $720. This bike has been in storage in my garage for over a decade unused and it's now in need of a new chain (rusty) and undoubtedly new inner tubes (I'm not even going to try pumping them up). A few fasteners also have some surface rust on them and could use a little chrome polish or replacing. Other than these small maintenance issues, it is in fine shape and could be ride-able after a few hours of cleaning and tuning.

A few things have been replaced/upgraded from factory:

- Seat is now a gel type
- Pedals are LOOK clipless, for which you will need matching shoe cleats which are $20/pair at most bike shops.
- Wheels upgrade to Mavics
- Zefal frame pump included
- Profile Aerobar added

The bike is in Pembroke, MA and I commute M-F to Waltham, MA. I can make arrangements to show the bike on weekends and weekday nights in Pembroke, or M-F, 11am-5pm in Waltham with 1 day notice.
