The vintage Miyata 1000 is often described as the best touring frame ever made.

The MC6500 (Mountain Cat 6500) was second from the top in Panasonic's lineup of mountain bikes at the time. Panasonic made very nice bikes, and only imported to the USA for 3 years in the late 1980's. Rear rack and bar end extensions included (easily removable if they are not your thing).

The slotted fin adjustment design always caught my interest but a recent post from a BF member noting major slippage problems at the slot on his similar Simplex seatpost, now makes me think twice about getting this type of seatpost for my bikes.
A "rocking" two bolt design like the Campy NR, JPR and Rubis seatpost will never have such problems.
