Lugs are quite trim looking, and the rear triangle is tidy (owner has the wheels all the way back in the dropouts), so we're looking at something very nice. Dual bottle cages, so...'80s? Pretty bike, and you could sell the parts and end up with a free nice frameset.

It's just so blue

Vintage Somec Dura Ace - $550 (Scituate)

Vintage late 1980's Somec complete bicycle. The bike is built with a mid 1980's Dura Ace 7400 6 speed indexed group complete with Dura Ace hubs and clincher Mavic heat treated clincher wheels. ITM handlebars and stem with an American Classic seatpost, Selle Italia saddle and Vittoria Corsa tires. Overall the frame is in superb condition given it's age with very little scratches that are noticeable. I do not know for certain what type of tubing the frame is made of but my guess it's Columbus. The frame has wonderful details including cutout lugs outlined in gold trim. The fork crown is engraved and the chrome is in perfect condition. I originally intended this to be a vintage rider but its just to small for me. Frame measures 52c-c with a 52c-c top tube. Can be easily converted to single speed. Please call Matt show contact info

Anybody turning that into a single speed or fixie should be committed or something. That is poetry.

Miyata Terra Runner, 1987, 19.5" frame -- $50

Miyata Terra Runner MTB, 1987, size Med/19.5", $50 @ CraigsList, Denver (CO) area.

Looks like it's in fairly clean condition. No indication of which parts and what condition they're in.
Reposting at a lower price of $50. For sale is a 1987 Miyata Terra Runner ATB, Medium Size, 19.5" fire-red color. Used and in good condition. The tires should be replaced because they are original and the rear sidewall has started to come apart. This is the most comfortable and sturdy bike I've ever ridden. Japanese quality. Not a walmart bike that will fall apart after a week of heavy use. Rack and Banjo Brothers panniers included. $50

Will only be available for sale on weekends. CL Email only.

^^^^^ Just judging from the stem, seatpost and bolt-on chainrings, it's mid-grade, and a steal at that price. Shoot, the rack/panniers are worth half the price of admission. The Pee Wee Herman handlebar would have to go.

How about 2nd in line under the XT-equipped Ridge Runner. At least according to the 1986 catalog - I couldn't find `87. Triple-butted Chro-Moly frame, Chro-Moly Unicrown fork, Suntour XC-Sport. You're right, that is an absolute steal!

I'd say go the other way with the bars. This bike needs a set of these - only $33!

Miyata 1987 Catalog

1987 Miyata Terra-Runner :

Tubing -- Chromoly triple-butted, with chromoly stays
Fork -- Tange Unicrown chromoly
Derailleurs -- Suntour XC-Sport 7000 IC, 6spd 14-30T
Crank -- SR FXC-T350 28/38/48T
Brakes -- Dia-Compe DC-983 brakes, and U-brake
Rims -- Araya RM-20
29.5 lbs

as compared to the top-of-line 1987 Miyata Ridge Runner:

Tubing -- Chromoly splined triple-butted, with chromoly stays
Fork -- Tange Unicrown chromoly
Derailleurs -- Shimano Deore XT, 6spd 13-30T
Crank -- Shimano Deore XT 28/38/48T BioPace
Brakes -- Shimano Deore XT
Rims -- Araya RM-20
29 lbs

Not bad for $50, even if the stem, bars, pedals, brake pads, tires/tubes, cables and a couple other oddments needed swapping.

Seller has had this one up for a while now. Price has dropped significantly. 61.5 cm Caloi team frame, Axel Merckx issue. I had chatted with the seller some time ago, he had twitter and text from Axel verifying it was his.

PRICE DROP 61cm Somec w/Columbus Air Shimano 10 speed two wheelset - $300 (Allston)

I am selling my well used Somec. 7-8 years ago, there was a seatpost stuck in it and the seat tube had to be heated up slightly so it warped the paint and it isnt pretty. The bike has been solid since then and you could get used to the paint after a while. You could also touch it up using Spray Bike at https://us.spray.bike/

The build is:

-Mostly Shimano 105 10 speed group
-Bontrager cranks (not pictured)
-Commuter/training wheels. Rear is a Mavic Aksium.
-Extra set of Mavic Kysrium wheels - Well used - need to be trued, and I dont have the tool to do it.
-Tig welded stem (Salsa?)
-San Marco saddle. Same mold as the Rolls.
-Crappy platform pedals I tossed on there after taking off my clipless pedals.

Top tube: 61cm
Seat tube: c-c 62cm
Seat tube: c-t 63cm
Head tube: 205mm

Thanks!

This is interesting. Gitane, all chrome with honeycomb rear dropouts. But lower-end Huret drivetrain and cottered cranks. And that stem - bleah. Still, for a Benjamin it could be a fun project...

^^^^ Nice how he mentions the front brake, but nothing about the rear. And no mention of the rear der / chain. Did Salvador Dali design the stem?
