I posted that Trek back in mid August when it first showed up and was $400. I thought it might be higher up than a 500 series because of the 531 decal on the fork. Also just noticed the triple and the rear frame bosses....

If it were my size I probably would have owned it (or at least have gone to look at it) by now.

That color matches the 1982 catalog for 510/515 but the Reynolds doesn't.
Wonder if someone just slapped the stickers on or if Trek happened to make a few 7 series with that color scheme but didn't list them?
Weird.

Weird.
FWIW, a cursory image search for 1982 Trek 710 shows different Reynolds 531 frame/fork decals.

For example, from Thrifty Bill (@wrk101):

No problem.

I think a more definitive distinction is the lug at the head tube / top tube junction. Note that the Thrifty Bill example is a short point, while the CL ad version has a longer point on top.

Per the 1982 catalog on-line, the lugs are different between the frames, and a long-point would indicate a 515/510 frameset:

It's possible that the fork crowns are also a tell, but I haven't spend much time to sort that out.

Any opinion if this is a good deal for $200? Seems like the low end of the scale (West Coast Scale) for the entry IronMan bike

Looks like an '83 610 with some component upgrades to me. Der cabling under (vs over) the BB suggests '83. That said, Thrifty Bill @wrk101 (see above) says his frame is an '82, and I have a mystery bike with an '82 serial number, but under-BB cabling.

Yeah, that seems like the most reasonable explanation.

That’s the (IMHO) more desirable 1986 710. In 87 they routed the brake cable through the top tube creating
1) a stress riser that has led to cracking.
2) extra holes for rain to get into the frame.
Also in ‘87 it was a 712.

That’s a $250.00 to $300.00 bike in Chicago.

We talk about Terry quite a bit here but seldom see a regular common size one.

If I had any kind of a need I would already have this.

How does the touring model ride and handle compared to the road/race version? If I understand correctly, the frame angles are the same (73° HT, 74° ST, 40mm fork offset making at least 62mm of trail, 70mm BB drop). Columbus SL/SP in long wheelbase form. Looking at the '84 catalog, it appears we have a super unicorn--on top of the unicorn '81-84 models--on our hands in the form of a canti brake equipped(!) touring Paramount. Boy would that be a find!
