FYI this Miyata was put together by trainees at my shop, The Center for Bicycle Repair in Kent. They build, I advise and guide them through the process. The classes are free, we split any proceeds from the sale equally among all trainees. This Miyata turned out nice!

sourcing bicycles for shop
WA state has regs for buying/selling used bicycles. If we’re buy from an individual, we need to get a copy of the seller’s ID. You can imagine how that freaks people out on CL! I think it’s a deent way to avoid tracking stolen bicycles though.
FWIW I stockpiled—not without feeling a little guilty—for two years before opening the shop.
We’re having an open house to sign trainees up for Spring Quarter on 2/16 at 11:00AM. Come see us! 318 W Meeker Street / Kent, WA

Oh, that's beautiful, and in great shape! If it were my size I'd jump at it, but I've already got a PH-60 that's similar, if not in that great a shape.

PX50 and PL50
Thank you for the heads up guys! I remember when that bike was for sale on French eBay maybe 6+ months ago? The owner/seller is on Classic Rendezvous and had a lot of questions when he was rebuilding it. I think the owner might be on bike forums as well? It is a nice bike. However, I already have a PX50 (1964) that I renovated a couple of years ago. Plus, I just bought a circa 1957 PL50 that needs to be restored. I have been into racing bikes for years, but I must admit I'm captivated by the cyclo-tourist thing.

1964 PX50 w/ lots of upgraded parts. It is rides like a caddy.

1957 PL50 that I'm planning to restore... I love the suicide shifter and will replace the prestige rear with a period chain stay mount rear der.

Yeah, I've sworn off French threading, but that is something worth thinking about. (Though, again, much too small for me.)

Continuing the French theme:

Seems like a good deal--- the rear derailleur looks like Suntour V-GT, not original, but the bike looks otherwise very well preserved.
I've been looking for a Grand Record, and this is the right size....but this is on the wrong coast for me, and I'm really jonesing for a black/red one from later in the 70's....

I think it has the proprietory Dawes stem, not a GB stem and the simplex doesn't look bad
Dawes Realm Rider Road City Bicycle $130 Fishtown (PA)
per ad
The bicycle is in very nice shape and works flawlessly. Shifts smooth. It'd be great as a city day to day bicycle or a touring bike. Handles bumps and potholes like a champ. Features the following:
* 21-inch (53cm) Frame
* 27 x 1-1/4" Wheels and Tires
* 10-speed with index shifters
* Kickstand
* Made in Birmingham, England
* Weinmann 610 Center-Pull Brake Calipers
* Simplex Gear Set + Components (derailleurs, shifters)
