That can be dealt with, with a short stem. My 'too big' Paramount is a favorite ride. Being a Trekhead myself, I encourage you to try and make it work.

Much better dealing with a frame that's too big than one that's too small. Plus, on big frames, the top tube is often the same as smaller-sized models, so stand-over height is really all that you're sacrificing.

One of the older Moser Sprints, $150 near Birmingham - all original, down to the bar tape. Not their best, Ofmega drivetrain, but it's a Moser. (I have the exact same bike, it's not bad)

Final fit
59cm would be too long for me too, but I've found that one size "too big" frames are most comfortable for me, with a shorter reach stem. This bike had a 12cm reach, I tried an 8cm and that was better, but it's final iteration was a 6.5cm, and you can get shorter reached stems.

Yup. I've bought and sold a couple of 80s Treks that should have fit according to seat tube, but the TT was just too long.

They're a little long but they're also fitted with long stems. Doesn't help.

Looks like it came from "East side Milwaukee" guy. Dude flips some nice Treks, and a few other oddities now and then (he had a stainless steel Bridgestone the other day, IIRC).
That's because non-custom bikes are sized based on overall height, with no regard to proportion. Imagine if you could select frame sizes like you do when buying slacks. If you need a larger waist, you're not locked into a longer inseam, and vice-versa. Imagine frame sized being available based on seat tube and top tube length independently (within a reasonable range of course). Of course, no one other than custom builders does that, and certainly no one did BITD. So if you're what a local fitter here calls a "shortback", that is, your height is mostly in your legs rather than your torso, there's no "right" fit with the typical frame proportions and stock components. So it usually comes down to choosing between a "tall enough but too long" frame with a short-reach stem (and possibly a minimal- or zero-offset seatpost, or a "right reach but not tall enough" frame with a tall seatpost/stem. (That, or $$$$ for a custom.)

I'd grab that for the Magura hydraulic brakes. Frame might actually be a prototype since the rear suspension in production did not look quite like that. Do not expect to find any good elastomers. I doubt any new ones are being produced and anything left over from those days will have hardened into pucks and have no compliance.

Hi all. My husband is getting a little overheated over this Miyata 610 that's just slightly too tall for him at 58 cm. We'd get it, but we have no more room. At all.
Aaand the pic doesn't want to load. All original, from handlebars to pedals, and it's red. Red goes faster, it is known. Anyone want to rescue this beauty and put him out of his misery?

Yup. That's how 22.5" treks fit me, and I'm 5'10". But to make them fit I need "a lot" (like two, two and a half fists) of seat post exposed, and then I need a taller stem so I'm not cranked way down looking for the handle bars. Your bike looks more balanced than most. Nice thing about bigger frames is how they can hide most of a technomic. You can use one and just extend it a couple cm taller than a standard steering stem and it still looks good.
